A legend enters the next generation – without losing any of its temperament and class!
The second generation of the Porsche 911 (G model) came onto the market in 1973 as the successor to the Porsche 911 (original model). It was a 2+2-seater sports car and was available in Coupé, Cabriolet (from 1983), Targa and Speedster versions. The 911 was offered with the following engines: 2.7 – 3.0 litre petrol engines (150 – 188 hp) and 2.7 – 3.2 litre petrol engines (200 – 231 hp) in the 911 Carrera. The last Porsche 911 G-Model rolled off the production line in 1989. Number of Coupé units built 10,832, Targa 8,108
From model year 1981, Porsche was the first manufacturer in the world to introduce a 7-year guarantee against rusting through: The entire body was made of hot-dip galvanised sheet steel on both sides. These 911s still benefit from this corrosion protection today. From 1986, the warranty was extended to 10 years.
