“Opel Kadett in short O. K.” – this slogan was also used for the second generation of this model. The Kadett B was introduced in 1963. This small family car had, like its predecessor, a longitudinally mounted front-engine and rear-wheel drive, but its body was longer and the engine more powerful. The Kadett B was offered with a total of eight different body styles, including 2- and 4-door sedans with and without hatchback, two different coupes and a 3- or 5-door station wagon (“Caravan”). The sedan also formed the basis for the luxurious Olympia A model. Two types of engines, either with a side camshaft or with a camshaft in the cylinder head, were installed in the vehicles and produced between 33 and 78 kW (45-106 hp). In 1967 all models were revised. The more thickly padded dashboard, the safety steering column with three-spoke steering wheel and baffle plate ensured greater safety. In addition to the variety of versions offered, there were special models of the Kadett, including the Kadett Sport, Kadett Rallye or Kadett Grand Prix. With a construction period of 8 years and over 2.7 million units produced, the Kadett B was one of the most successful Opel models of all time.
