This two-door coupe was produced from 2006 to 2013. The successor to the Mercedes-Benz C 215 model is the third generation of the CL-Class. This luxury class vehicle was based on the platform of the 211 series, but the body was enlarged. The entry-level CL 500 model was delivered with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission with 285 kW (388 hp). Other versions were CL 63 AMG with V8 petrol engines, CL 600 and CL 65 AMG with V12 engines, all with rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive models were equipped with Airmatic air suspension, while Active Body Control was standard on the remaining models. Many other special features such as bi-xenon headlamps with the Intelligent Light System adaptive headlamp system, nano paint or Pre-Safe protection system were also part of the standard equipment. Model upgrading followed in 2010. The spoilers, exterior mirrors and exhaust tailpipes were reworked on all models, and the radiator grille and headlights were replaced. The Mercedes-Benz C 216 received an optimized driver assistance system and a completely new crosswind assistant that kept the vehicle on track even in strong winds. A total of 32,258 units of this luxury sports coupé were produced.
