Vehicle Description

A road cruiser convertible thoroughbred

This breathtaking Cadillac Deville convertible was built almost 50 years ago. According to its previous owner, it has been partly restored and re-painted. The paintwork and chrome are in good condition, as are the beige leatherette interior and the fully automatic, electro-hydraulic hood, one of the highlights of this convertible.

This is a third generation Deville, the last series which could be ordered as a convertible. At its heart, it has the massive 7.0 litre V8, providing 250 kW (340 hp) – an appropriate level of motorisation, after all this Deville boasts a length of 5.7 metres and a kerb weight in excess of 2 tons!

This Cadillac is bound to turn people’s heads.
It is being offered with US title and proof of customs clearance.

The quintessential American car

As is often the case in US car naming conventions, the term “Cadillac DeVille” was used for many decades, over eight generations of full-size luxury cars built by General Motors. The DeVille was a volume seller and competed with the Lincoln Continental / Town Car. It had the reputation of being somewhat sportier than its rival. Earlier generations were available as 4-door sedan as well as 2-door coupe or convertible. the Coupe DeVille once was the best-selling luxury car in the US. Production of the convertible ceased after the 3rd generation (1970), and the coupe was dropped in 1993, leaving the 4-door sedan as the only remaining body style.
Until 1977, all DeVilles came with high-capacity V8 engines (with up to 8.2 litres of displacement!) – then the fuel crisis triggered a “downsizing” trend, even though nothing smaller than a 4.1 litre V6 ever featured in a DeVille.
On German roads, full-size Cadillacs have always been somewhat exotic. The massive, 5,7 m long, heavily tailfinned specimens of the 1950s / 60s have long become classics.
