This very elegant Mercedes 350 SL was delivered to the US when new and has recently been re-imported. It is a well-preserved 2-seater convertible in the colour combination of silver paintwork and black leatherette interior. The car still features the small bumpers (which later fell victim to the US safety regulations). The original hardtop in body-colour is well tended. Dashboard, MB-tex seats, door linings, sky and flooring are all in an appealing condition.

The odometer displays an unwarranted mileage of only 42,635 mls. The V8 starts and runs well, it comes with the tried-and-tested automatic transmission.
On the Mercedes’ features list we find a “Becker Europa” radio, air-conditioning and power windows. Service booklet, owner’s manual and data card are included.

Due to the various deficiencies regarding bodywork and running gear, the vehicle is being offered as a restoration project without registration.

The SL series R 107, which came on the market in 1971 as the successor to the so-called “Pagoda” (W 113 series), established a new line of design at Mercedes-Benz with its broad H4 headlights and large ribbed tail lights.

The fact that this styling is well received even today, is proven by the number of registered historic vehicles in Germany: The R107 SLs take third place of popularity, only surpassed by the VW beetle and the Mercedes W 123 series (both of which were built in much higher numbers!).

As with the previous model, the US formed the largest market. The vast majority of the vehicles was equipped with high capacity V8 engines.

This vehicle set numerous standards with continuous innovations over time and is now one of the eternal classics.
