Mazda MX-5

– iconic first series Mazda MX-5 in British racing green
– only one registered keeper from new
– delivered in Germany in 1994
– reportedly accident-free matching numbers vehicle
– 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engine producing 96 kW (130 hp), with manual gearbox
– timing belt and water pump renewed at 106,000 km
– chrome spoke wheels plus original set of wheels
– black soft top renewed in 2011
– hard top in matching car colour included
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 02/2021

In the late 1970s, the once popular open two seater cars had almost completely disappeared from the American market. Mazda realized the gap and the opportunity it provided and developed a lightweight open sports car, the MX-5, or Miata, as it was called in the US. It was presented at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989 and became an immediate success. The brand had planned to sell around 5,000 units per year – and ended up with the best-selling roadster of all time: Today, thirty years later, the MX-5 is in its fourth generation, and the combined sales have long exceeded the 1,000,000 units threshold. The design principle of “Jinba ittai”, essentially meaning “oneness of horse and rider” and its consistent implementation laid the basis for this unrivalled success: The MX-5 is a no-frills driving machine, with solid build quality, a 50:50 weight distribution owing to its front-midengine, rear wheel drive layout, a decent suspension and a kerb weight of under 1 ton. In this combination, it received ample praise from the motorist press and was showered with accolades.
1st generation MX-5 came with 1.6 or 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engines and a power output of up to 96 kW (131 hp) and are recognizable by their retractable headlights, a feature dropped in subsequent generations.

BMW 325 ix (E30)

– BMW 325ix (E30), always registered in Germany
– salmon silver metallic (BMW colour code 203) with shadowline trim
– reportedly accident-free and matching numbers vehicle
– surprisingly well-kept interior, much better than the mileage would have you expect
– power sunroof, air conditioning and CD-radio
– detachable towbar
– runs on original BMW E30 alloys
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 06/2019, eligible for historic plates
– a future classic suitable as daily driver and for winter rallyes

BMW’s 2nd generation of the 3 series, the E30, replaced its popular predecessor in 1982. With its straight lines, Claus Luthe – who had penned the timeless NSU Ro 80 – created a car that perfectly catered to the taste of its era. The handsome and well-built cars with their wonderfully smooth engines were originally available as 2- and 4-door sedans. In 1985, BMW added a convertible, and in 1987, a station wagon named “Touring” completed the lineup.
The 325 iX, available as of 1985, introduced four-wheel-drive to the 3 series. Diesel- and Turbo-Diesel models were offered as of 1985 (324 d) and 1987 (324 td). Motorsport enthusiasts’ dream was of course the M3 with up to 175 kW (238 hp) of power. In total, 2,339,520 units of the E30 series were built, nearly doubling the figures of the preceding E21.
35 years after its presentation, the E30 is already fast becoming a sought-after classic. It is getting exceedingly difficult to find a well-preserved, original specimen – simply because many have suffered dearly at the hands of a financially inflexible clientele of 3rd and 4th hand owners attraced by the racing qualities of the E30 3 series.

BMW M6

“Bavaria Express”, that’s what the fans called it, affectionately understating. And in the M version with 188 kW (255 hp), the 6 Series coupé was a real Porsche killer. The presentation in Geneva had already been 13 years in the past, when this snappy Bavarian left the factory and was delivered to its first destination, the United States. Under the hood, there was the M88 engine, a 3.5 litre straight six-cylinder also installed in the M1.

On the inside, this M6 wins you over with an elegant colour combination of beige leather, with dashboard and door trim parts contrasting in black. All of the interior gives a neat and very valuable impression. Board computer, air conditioning and electrically adjustable seats with memory function are on the features’ list. The BMW’s exterior, too, makes a very well maintained impression: Paint and chrome are good, the alloys free from kerb damage.
All in all, the M6 displays only slight, age-related traces of wear and tear. Technical approval is valid till 03/2017. A recent Classic Data brief appraisal over € 48,000.- (condition: 2+) is available.

A coupé for connoisseurs, for which the historic plates aren’t far off. A classic it is already.

A high-revving straight six engine, standard drive, and all packaged in an equally expressive as well as timeless coupé shape: Hardly surprising the BMW 6 Series (E24) met with enthusiastic buyers for over 13 years, longer than any other BMW.

Upon its presentation, the design anticipated the styling of the future 7 Series (E23). Inside, there is the driver-related cockpit – a 70s novelty at BMW – with the center console turned slightly towards the driver. Otherwise, the upper-class coupé boasts lush luxury, since the 6 Series was designed for a comfortable ride. And that is not at all contrary to a sporting performance, least of all with the more powerful engines of the 635 CSi.

The 6 Series has the reputation of easy maintenance, and its engines are said to be virtually indestructible. For this reason, this BMW is well placed for a second spring as a classic that is fit for everyday use.

– 5.3 litre 12 cylinder engine with 197 kW (268 hp) and manual gearbox
– originally delivered to the US, imported in 2009
– reportedly accident-free car with extensive document file

– 2016 Classic Data appraisal states a replacement value of € 110,000 (condition 2)

– stunningly beautiful example of one of the most legendary cars of all times

The essence of automotive beauty
No other than Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type the most beautiful car ever made, and even if beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, not too many people would have contradicted him since. The debut of the XK-E, called “E-Type”, in 1961 was nothing short of a sensation. Its unrivalled elegant styling was complemented by plenty of power, and all of that at a relatively moderate price.
Over the years, the successful model was modified in several ways: From the spring of 1966 there was a 2 + 2-seater version with an extended wheelbase. In 1967, the headlight covers fell victim to American safety regulations. On the engine side, there were six-cylinder engines with 3.8 and later 4.2 litres, and as of 1971, twelve-cylinder motors to choose from. Production of the compact two-seaters ceased in 1971, the so-called Series III was only offered as a 2+2-seater.
A classic of superlatives, that’s all there is to it.

Porsche 928 S

This 1984 Porsche 928 S has recently been re-imported from the US. It was hitherto driven in California, which explains the absence of any visible rust. The paintwork in smoky quartz metallic is apparently all-original, the apparently accident-free sports tourer shows no signs of any re-painting.
The interior is as good as new, with electrically adjustable, dark brown leather seats, matching dashboard and bicolour door lining in good condition.
This 1980s dream car is equipped with the 4.7 litre V8 which in the US version delivers 178 kW (242 hp) of power and comes complete with 4-gear automatic transmission, electric sunroof, power windows and air conditioning (not tested). The rev counter is sporadically not working..
Owner’s manual, service history and several repair receipts are available. The Porsche has technical approval valid till 05/2017.
With a glance at the Porsche 928’s market development over the past years – prices have increased by about 50 % from 2005 to 2010 alone! – this is not only a gran turismo which is bound to win you over by its stunning road performance, but a valuable investment at the same time.

The other great Porsche

This was supposed to be the heir to the throne, successor to the forever-young 911, which in the late 1960s was thought to be way past its prime, with not much of a future ahead. Hence a radically different layout was favoured: The new top-of-the-range model was designed to be a luxury touring car, with a powerful watercooled V8 engine in the front, providing 176 kW (240 hp) from 4,5 litres of displacement, and a transaxle layout, which enabled a weight distribution of nearly 50/50 (front/rear). The 928 debuted in 1977 at the Geneva Motor show. In 1978, it won the coveted “European Car of the Year” award, as the first sports car ever – a clear indication of just how advanced the 928 was both technically as well as with regards to styling. Many Porsche enthusiasts, however, greeted the 928 with something ranging from suspicion to downright rejection, as the 911 continued to sell. Nevertheless, the 928 became a success in its own right, with a construction period of no less than 18 years. Later models featured a 5.4 litre engine with up to 257 kW (350 hp). Only about 1/5 of all 928 came with a manual gearbox!

MG TF 115

– well-kept, low mileage MG TF
– from the final year of MG Rover production, 2005
– mid-engine roadster with excellent road holding and agile handling
– 1.6 litre petrol engine, 85 kW (116 hp) and manual gearbox
– bicolour (black / blue) Alcantara sports seats
– power windows, centre armrest, CD radio, front airbags
– leather steering wheel and wooden gear shifter knob
– complete with original MG alloys and hardtop
– ready for instant registration, valid technical approval until 04/2021
– reportedly accident-free vehicle
– an attractive British roadster that offers great value for money

The MG F was developed and marketed during turbulent times: Ownership of the MG brand had passed to British Aerospace in 1988, and was sold once more to BMW in 1994. Only 6 years later, a management buyout landed the marque in the newly-founded MG Rover Group, which went into receivership in 2005 and was taken over by the Chinese Nanjing Automobile Group. All four companies were involved in the history of the MG F, which was presented in 1995. A classic two-seater mid-engine roadster, the car featured a 1.8 litre petrol engine with 88 kW (120 hp) in the base version. Stronger engines offered up to 117 kW (159 hp). A facelift in 1999 brought changes to the interior, including seats and centre console. In 2002, the MG F became the MG TF, named after the 1950s TF Midget. For this car, a traditional coil spring suspension replaced the sophisticated Hydragas system of the first generation. The TF was discernible by its new radiator grille, hood and head lights.
The bankruptcy of the MG Rover Group in 2005 brought a temporary end of production, which was resumed in 2007 under the Nanjing ownership, both in Longbridge, as well as in a new Chinese factory. The MG TF remained on offer until 2011.

BMW Z3

– 1998 BMW Z3 roadster
– delivered and always registered in Germany
– low mileage of only 26,400 km
– service booklet available
– reportedly accident-free vehicle
– body-coloured hardtop comes with the car
– electrically actuated soft top, heated seats
– wood trim
– original BMW cassette radio on board
– runs on 16″ BMW alloys
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 04/2021

In 1995, BMW presented a new sporting two seater roadster. Designed by Joji Nagashima, technically based on E36 and internally named E36/7, this was the first new BMW to be built exclusively in the US. Within just two years, a new factory had been erected at Greer, South Carolina, which had commenced production of the E36 in 1994. Apart from the powertrain, which still came from Germany, all other components for the Z3 were sourced from North American suppliers. The roadster was very popular right from day one – aided by clever product placement in the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye.
In 1999, a coupé version (E36/8) was added. This proved somewhat controversial, as it was more of a shooting brake than an actual coupé, and it ended up nicknamed “breadbox” by some critics. The engine palette ranged from a 1.8 litre four-cylinder with 85 kW (116 hp) to the mighty 3.2 litre six-cylinder in the Z3 M, which boasted 239 kW (325 hp).
For the 2000 model year, the Z3 was facelifted, the new look best noticeable at the rear with the L-shaped taillights. The facelift also brought better insulation for the convertible top, which now had three layers, not just one, and higher quality materials were used for the plastic rear window.
Over 7 years, a total of 279,273 roadsters and 17,815 coupés were built.

– fully stamped service booklet gives evidence to regular maintenance
– timing belt replaced at 154,000 km
– alloy wheels, M sports suspension, power windows front and rear, trip computer
– soon eligible for historic plates
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 08/2020
– please note that a matching Wiesmann hardtop is available as a seperate lot

BMW’s 2nd generation of the 3 series, the E30, replaced its popular predecessor in 1982. With its straight lines, Claus Luthe – who had penned the timeless NSU Ro 80 – created a car that perfectly catered to the taste of its era. The handsome and well-built cars with their wonderfully smooth engines were originally available as 2- and 4-door sedans. As early as 1983, the Baur company at Stuttgart produced a convertible which was distributed through BMW’s official retailers. With its fixed window frames and the roll bar, it featured typical 1980s styling cues. Two years later, BMW presented their own convertible – the first in 15 years. And how different it looked in its completely open state, devoid of the aforementioned bars and beams.
It became an immediate success. Over 140,000 units were built until production ceased in 1993, three years after the launch of the E36 sedan.
30 years after its presentation, the E30 convertible has already become a sought-after classic. It is getting exceedingly difficult to find a well-preserved, original specimen – simply because many have suffered dearly at the hands of a financially inflexible clientele of 3rd and 4th hand owners attraced by the racing qualities of the E30 3 series.

Volkswagen Käfer Cabrio

This remarkably beautiful, intense blue paint is called “sapphire blue”, it carries the VW colour code L50D and quite frankly, it makes you wonder why nowadays cars hardly ever sport pretty colours like they did in the 1970s. Here’s a Volkswagen Beetle convertible, built by Karmann in Osnabrück in 1970 for the German market where the vehicle is believed to have stayed all of its 46 years of existence. The VW is rust-free according to the consignor and features a beige convertible top in good condition with only slight discolouring on the inside. It even comes with a heated rear window. A contemporaneous radio is also installed. The beetle runs on steel rims with chrome hub caps. The carpet has been renewed, and a new set of window seals has been fitted.
The black leatherette interior has been well looked after and displays favourably with the right degree of patina. In the rear, there’s the 1.3 litre 4-cylinder boxer engine which produces 32 kW (44 hp) of power and sends drive to the rear wheels via the well-known four-speed manual gearbox.
The VW convertible has valid technical approval until 02/2018 and comes with heritage certificate, German registration documents and historic plates. A recent Classic Data appraisal states a replacement value of this car in condition 3+ at € 20,900.

When production of this convertible came to a close, its fans had tears in their eyes! Precious few other vehicles had found their way into the hearts of people the way the Beetle Convertible had – thanks to its timeless, cuddly shape and certainly also due to the fact that it had brought the convertible feeling to people far below the ranks of the “upper ten thousand” in the first place.

During the final years of the nearly 30-year production span, the open version of the VW Beetle became increasingly popular, and as the demand went up, so did the prices for well-kept used cars, which surpassed their retail prices almost right from the start. A car that had already become a classic during its construction period, after all it was produced with relatively marginal changes from 1949 to 1980.

All along, the convertible was always based on the most powerful and best-equipped version of the “creepy-crawly” of its time. A total of 330,281 open beetles were manufactured at Karmann in Osnabrück, right up to the final “Volkswagen 1303 Cabriolet” with an engine power of 37 kW (50 hp) as of 1972.

Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC

With a production date of 1972, this is an early model Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC, which was first delivered to France. It stands out from the numerous R107 re-imports as a largely original vehicle with comprehensive ownership history, which has remained in the same family of owners for nearly all its life. The car has been largely repainted and is virtually free of rust according to the consignor. The SLC presents itself in a well cared-for condition inside and out. The Mercedes runs on beautiful Fuchs alloys, a set of original steel rims and hubcaps is included. The Becker Grand Prix radio is on board, complete with electric aerial. The 3.5 litre V8 engine produces 147 kW (200 hp) and sends drive to the rear wheels by means of a 3-speed automatic transmission. The previous owner maintained this Mercedes meticulously, renewing and replacing worn parts wherever necessary, so the SL is mechanically sound and runs very smooth. All services and repairs since 2010 are fully documented.
All original booklets, including owner’s manual, service booklet, radio manual, data card, as well as numerous repair receipts are available. A Classic Data brief appraisal from 2012 estimates the market value of this coupe at € 15,500 (condition: 2-). It comes with German registration documents, valid technical approval until 03/2016 and historic plates.
R107 coupés in this condition are hard to find – this one is bound to win you over!

Based on the R 107, Mercedes created a sports coupé with the series designation C 107, which was first presented in 1971 and marketed as SLC. The SLC’s wheelbase was a full 36 cm longer than that of the SL. The coupe was a 5-seater, slightly heavier than the convertible, but the better drag coefficient made up for that, their top speed was identical. Its distinguishing styling cues were the very large, curved rear window and the slats in the back – born out of necessity in order to fully lower the rear side windows.

There were the M 110 six-cylinder engine, as well as the M 116 and M 117 eight-cylinder engines to choose from. The most powerful version, the 450 SLC 5.0 or, as of 1980, 500 SLC offered 176 kW (240 hp).

The coupé was produced for 10 years – a long time, though considerably shorter than the 18 years of the R 107. During this period 62,888 units were built – much fewer than the convertible variant.
