– 3 owners, since 2006 with the last owner
– Speedometer reading plausible according to service history

The first generation of the VW Caddy (Type 14D), from 1979 to 2007, was initially built for the North American market at the Volkswagen plant in Westmoreland (USA) under the name “VW Rabbit Pickup” as a compact commercial vehicle based on Golf I, later also for Canada. Due to its design, 625 kg payload, almost 2.5m² loading area and a platform height of only 64 cm, it was particularly popular with farmers and other tradesmen. The high payload required a design change to the rear axle. Longitudinal leaf springs instead of coil springs and asymmetrically arranged shock absorbers made an almost flat loading area possible. Four years after the market launch in the USA, the Volkswagen plant introduced the Caddy for the German and European markets. The front of the vehicle was slightly modified for this purpose. The front grille and the headlights were taken from the Golf I kit. VW also took three engines from the Golf engine range. For optimal economy, there was the 1.6L diesel engine with 40 kW (54 hp). Furthermore the 1.6L gasoline engine with 55 kW (75 PS) and the 1.8L gasoline engine with 70kW (95 PS). Various body variants, an open flatbed, a hardtop made of GRP, as well as other special bodies, could be ordered. Until 1992 the Volkswagen subsidiary TAS in Sarajevo produced the European Caddy. With some modifications, it was still produced in South Africa until 2007.

Bentley Continental GT 6.0 W12

Only the best of all worlds

A twelve-cylinder by VW, four-wheel drive technology by Audi, hand-crafted into a luxury class sports coupe at the traditional main factory in Crewe – this is the Continental GT, the first model of the Bentley brand which was created under the auspices of the Volkswagen Group. At times, the demand was so high that the production ran at full capacity, and the well-heeled buyers had no choice but to wait,

When the wait was over, they were able to enjoy a very agile and, notwithstanding the hefty weight of over 2.3 tonnes, sporty luxury coupe which left nothing to be desired, owing to the rich standard equipment and 635 hp of power for the open road.

From the Series II, after a careful facelift in 2011, the Continental GT was available with a V8 engine.

Porsche 911 S Targa

It is fiery red. It is a Porsche, and not just any – it is the 911 Targa, the mother of all sports cars as it were, for generations of people. This specimen was originally delivered to the US and reimported in 2015. The VIN reveals that this is an early 1975 model, built in 1974, and since it is a 911 “S” Targa, it comes with the six cylinder engine producing 129 kW (175 hp) of power from 2.7 litres of capacity. The engine sends drive to the rear wheels by means of the 915/40 gearbox, a 5-speed manual.
On the 5-digit odometer, an unwarranted mileage of 31,500 mls is displayed.
The interior of this 911 has at one point been refurbished, including new door side panels and dashboard. The tan leatherette seats look good. The exterior, by contrast, is in a condition which most people would not find agreeable: Scratches, dents, clearly visible repainting and open holes from removed fastenings on the rear lid make it clear that there’s a lot to be done.
This 911 runs on bi-colour black / silver “cleaver rims” which will need to be addressed too. All in all this is an attractively priced restoration project and your chance to get hold of a 1974 Targa that gives you more than just one option for the future: “The full monty” or just a quick prettyfication for use as a daily driver… you decide!

A legend goes into the next generation – and loses not a bit of temperament and class!

The second generation of the Porsche 911 (G model) came on the market in 1973 as a successor to the Porsche 911 (original model). It was a 2+2-seater sports car and available as coupé, convertible (as of 1983), Targa and Speedster.

The 911 was equipped with the following engines: 2.7 to 3.0 litre petrol engine (150-188 hp) and, for the Carrera version, 2.7 to 3.2 litre petrol engine (200-231 hp). The last Porsche 911 G-model rolled off the production line in 1989.

This car is almost a must in any good garage!

Fiat can look back on a long tradition of building small, affordable and open sports cars. Models such as the 1200/1500 Cabriolet, 124 Spider, 850 Sport Spider or even the 508 Balilla Sport are still among the Turin-based company’s most popular creations.
The curved silhouette as well as the beading on the side convey the kinship with legendary Italian sports cars of the 1960s. The “little boat” was produced starting in 1995 in response to the success of the Mazda MX-5.
After 10 years and 57521 vehicles, production was discontinued. Greek designer Andreas Zapatinas was responsible for the exterior design.
The Fiat Barchetta was voted Convertible of the Driver in 1995.
The roadster is powered by a 1.8 liter four-cylinder front engine with 131PS. The maximum torque is 164 Nm at 4300/min.

Cadillac Eldorado Convertible from 1965 the epitome of an open tourer

– Front seat electrically adjustable with center armrest and split backrest

Well maintained Cadillac Eldorado Convertible in original condition

For many, the years from 1960 to 1969 represent the pinnacle of Cadillac design.
The design excesses of the late 1950s gave way to clean lines and a more thoughtful, conservative design. The success was resounding and with record sales achieved, there was no doubt as to which luxury car would be America’s favourite.
Comfort and luxury along with sophisticated technology were at the forefront. The interior, with its bench seats and abundance of space and freedom, evokes an almost genuine living room flair. In addition to a standard stereo radio system with automatic aerial, there is fully automatic air conditioning, cruise control, hydraulic power steering, electric seat adjustment, heated seats, electric windows and automatic level control on the rear axle. The Cadillacs of the late 1960s are increasingly delighting collectors despite the thirsty V8 engine and the sometimes somewhat complex engineering. The 1965 Eldorado was still only offered as a convertible. Internally, it was a sub-series of the Fleetwood, so that it was occasionally referred to as the “Fleetwood Eldorado Convertible”. On German roads, luxurious Cadillacs were always exotic.

Fairthorpe cars were manufactured at Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, England between 1954 and 1961 and at Denham, Buckinghamshire, between 1961 and 1973. Fairthorpe Ltd was founded by Air Vice Marshal Donald Bennett. The first cars were lightweight two-seater models with motorcycle engines and fiberglass bodies. In 1956 the open 2-seater Electron appeared, with a 1098 cc overhead cam Coventry Climax engine. The front suspension was independent with coil springs and drum brakes were used all round. A price reduced version followed in 1957, the Electron Minor, which used the Standard SC engine, gearbox and rear axle from the Standard Ten. Electron Minor, whose name is mainly remembered by Fairthorpe. This car had remarkable road holding, was economical and fast. It had two comfortable seats and a large trunk with a 10-gallon gas tank. Originally offered as a complete car, the big breakthrough came when it was discovered in 1959 that you didn’t have to pay VAT if you built it yourself from a kit. By 1970, 700 vehicles were produced and were the mainstay of the company. The cars were fully assembled or available as kits

In 1974, Volkswagen presented its first Golf – an immense improvement over its predecessor, the VW beetle and its air-cooled engine in the rear. The Golf was, from the start, a front-wheel drive car, with water-cooled transverse engines – and hugely successful. The basic version originally had 37 kW (50 hp), alternatively one could order a 1.5 litre engine with 51 kW (70 hp). As of 1976, Diesel engines were available, too. The Golf GTI with 81 kW (110 hp) of power from 1.6 litres of capacity, introduced in 1976, for many people represents the epitome of the “hot hatch”. No wonder these cars have gained such popularity: they offer a first-rate driving experience, akin to that of conventional sports cars, while not compromising any of their everyday usability.
After nine years and 6 million of sold units, the second generation was introduced in 1983. The Golf I convertible, however, continued to be built for another decade, outliving the entire Golf II series, which was built no less than 6.3 million times, but of which VW never made an open variant. The pick-up version called Caddy, which was based on the Golf I and of which 200,000 units were produced, should also be mentioned.

The Cayman is a Porsche mid-engine sports coupe from the Zuffenhaus-based sports car manufacturer. The Cayman S premiered at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2005 in Frankfurt. The sporty two-seater was launched in Germany in November 2005. The technology is based on the Porsche Boxter. The Cayman engine was upgraded with parts from the 911 unit. The cylinder head and the “VarioCamPlus” camshaft control system were taken over. The crankshaft and pistons were completely redesigned by the engine engineers. All chassis components (springs, dampers, stabilizers) were designed to be sportier than on a Boxter. But the closed body also only slightly impairs handling on different road surfaces compared with the open sister model. In July 2006, the entry-level Cayman model with the 2.7-liter 180 KW (245 hp) engine completed the model lineup. A distinguishing feature of the Cayman S are the brake calipers painted red ex works. On behalf of Porsche, Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland, and Karmann in Osnabrück, Germany, produced the Cayman sports cars.

BMW 318 (E30) Cabrio

– BMW 318 Convertible from the E30 series
– original German delivery, only one owner from new
– matching numbers vehicle
– electrically operated convertible top in good condition
– power windows front and rear
– original BMW Bavaria CII cassette radio
– heated seats
– M steering wheel and sports exhaust
– complete original toolkit on board
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 06/2019
– largely original example of BMW’s popular E30 factory convertible

BMW’s 2nd generation of the 3 series, the E30, replaced its popular predecessor in 1982. With its straight lines, Claus Luthe – who had penned the timeless NSU Ro 80 – created a car that perfectly catered to the taste of its era. The handsome and well-built cars with their wonderfully smooth engines were originally available as 2- and 4-door sedans. As early as 1983, the Baur company at Stuttgart produced a convertible which was distributed through BMW’s official retailers. With its fixed window frames and the roll bar, it featured typical 1980s styling cues. Two years later, BMW presented their own convertible – the first in 15 years. And how different it looked in its completely open state, devoid of the aforementioned bars and beams.
It became an immediate success. Over 140,000 units were built until production ceased in 1993, three years after the launch of the E36 sedan.
30 years after its presentation, the E30 convertible has already become a sought-after classic. It is getting exceedingly difficult to find a well-preserved, original specimen – simply because many have suffered dearly at the hands of a financially inflexible clientele of 3rd and 4th hand owners attraced by the racing qualities of the E30 3 series.
