– air conditioning, radio BMW Business Cd Rds
– Black leather interior

Let the sunshine in!

In 1995, BMW presented a new sporting two seater roadster. Designed by Joji Nagashima, technically based on E36 and internally named E36/7, this was the first new BMW to be built exclusively in the US. Within just two years, a new factory had been erected at Greer, South Carolina, which had commenced production of the E36 in 1994. Apart from the powertrain, which still came from Germany, all other components for the Z3 were sourced from North American suppliers. The roadster was very popular right from day one – aided by clever product placement in the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye.
In 1999, a coupĆ© version (E36/8) was added. This proved somewhat controversial, as it was more of a shooting brake than an actual coupĆ©, and it ended up nicknamed “breadbox” by some critics. The engine palette ranged from a 1.8 litre four-cylinder with 85 kW (116 hp) to the mighty 3.2 litre six-cylinder in the Z3 M, which boasted 239 kW (325 hp).
For the 2000 model year, the Z3 was facelifted, the new look best noticeable at the rear with the L-shaped taillights. The facelift also brought better insulation for the convertible top, which now had three layers, not just one, and higher quality materials were used for the plastic rear window.
Over 7 years, a total of 279,273 roadsters and 17,815 coupƩs were built.

– “PĆ©tit Lion”, 1987 Peugeot 205 CT Cabrio with extraordinarily low mileage
– Austrian car, always kept in garage
– decomissioned from 1994 to 2011 and displayed in Austrian Peugeot dealership showroom
– since then only driven in fair weather, all trips recorded in vehicle logbook
– service booklet, original sales brochure and various reference books available
– rust-free original condition, free of accident damage
– original CT alloys, original tonneau cover
– new exhaust
– full-fledged spare tyre underneath boot
– cassette radio
– unique specimen of Peugeot’s popular 205, a classic that feels like new

Without exaggeration, one can say that the Peugeot 205 marked a turning point in history for the world’s 2nd oldest car manufacturer. The PSA group had in 1980 incurred a loss – for the first time ever. Owing to the instant and enduring success of the 205, which was presented in 1983 and produced for a full 15 years with very little visual changes, the company not only recovered, but thrived. The “little lion”, as it was lovingly called, was a highly versatile and thoroughly modern compact 3- and 5-door hatchback, which came with an immensely rich engine palette. Forever popular was the GTI, which by name and nature rivalled with its VW Golf counterpart. In 1986, the Pininfarina-styled convertible variant was added, and in the same year, an automatic gearbox became an option.
A total of over 5.3 million units sold meant a new company record for Peugeot at that time. Over 410,000 copies went to customers in Germany, where in the years 1985 and 1986, the 205 was the best selling imported car. Unforgotten are the successes on the rallye tracks around the globe, where the mid-engined 205 Turbo 16 achieved many victories.

A strawberry basket? How sweet!

Having built the Beetle Convertible for over 30 years, the Karmann plant at Osnabruck began producing the open Golf in 1980. At its debut, it was viewed with suspicion, especially the prominent roll-over bar was not up to everybody’s taste: “Strawberry Basket” quickly became the nickname for the compact VW convertible. And yet, the car was a huge success, not least due to the rigid body, the tight hood and sound workmanship.

When the last models rolled off the production line in 1993, the Golf III had already been on the market for almost two years: The Golf I convertible had outlived the entire Golf II series, which was built no less than 6.3 million times, but of which VW never made an open variant.

What customers appreciated at the time, makes the open Golf a sought-after, stable value collector’s item today. Later models are youngtimers on the clear path to becoming real classics.

Volkswagen Golf I GLI Cabrio

In 1984, when this VW Golf Convertible was built, the standard VW Golf I series was just being replaced by the 2nd generation – of which VW never made a convertible. So for another 9 years, this continued to be the current model… It is due to this extraordinarily long manufacturing period that somehow this convertible still looks quite familiar, even though it is nowhere near as common a sight on our roads as it used to be. This specimen, however, is old enough for a registration
as a historic vehicle. It comes with Dutch registration documents, having been delivered to the Netherlands when new.
Owing to its low kerb weight of only 965 kg, the 1.8 litre engine with 82 kW (112 hp) of power has an easy time of it, even by today’s standards. With its tried-and-tested 5-speed manual gearbox, this car is fun to drive, both with its hood up or down. The odometer displays an unwarranted mileage of only 114,700 km.
The Golf features a Blaupunkt cassette radio and an aftermarket immobiliser. Traces of wear and tear are apparent on the driver’s seat, and screw holes from removed fixtures can be seen on the glove box cover, yet the overall impression of this convertible is favourable.
Any car that was as popular when new as the VW Golf Convertible is bound to become a classic – so don’t miss your chance.

Jaguar XK 140 OTS

On 1 June 1956, this Jaguar XK 140 was dispatched to Jaguar Cars in New York, USA. In 1972 the car found its way back to Europe, and for the past 44 years, it has remained in possession of the same aristocratic owner, one of the great men of historic motor sports, who drove it regularly, favourable weather conditions permitting, until autumn last year. The open two seater has been regularly serviced by the same garage throughout those 44 years. The Jaguar is a non matching numbers vehicle, it presents itself today in a very authentic condition with just the right degree of patina. As you would expect from a car owned by a true connoisseur, the Jaguar is mechanically sound and a real pleasure to behold. It has valid technical approval until 06/2017 and historic plates. In the early 1970s, Jaguar disc brakes have been fitted for a better braking performance. Underneath the characteristic rounded bonnet, the 3.4 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine with dual SU carburettors is installed, which produces 140 kW (190 hp) and sends drive to the Jag’s “hind legs” by means of a 4-speed manual gearbox with electrically actuated overdrive. Thus the roadster has effectively got five gears, a rarity at its time. A second Jaguar gearbox can be supplied with the car. An electric fan has been fitted to prevent the valuable engine from overheating. The XK 140 runs on beautiful spoke wheels and features additional high beam front lights. A recent Classic Data appraisal estimates the value of this Jaguar in condition 2 at ā‚¬ 150,000.

Jaguar’s first sports car after WWII, the XK 120, was presented at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Exhibition in London. It was equipped with a brand-new and indeed very modern twin-overhead-camshaft engine. Sir William Lyons’ impressive styling went down extremely well and orders for the XK 120 just flooded in. Aided by the fact that the sports car was offered at a very competitive price, it became a huge success, not only on the home market, but especially in the US. A fixed head coupĆ© variant was added in 1951, and a drophead coupĆ© followed in 1953.
In 1954, Jaguar modified the sports car and re-launched it as Jaguar XK 140. Compared to its predecessor, the new car offered a roomier interior, improved suspension and brakes as well as rack and pinion steering. The 3.4 litre 6-cylinder engines was taken over trom the XK 120, it now delivered 142 kW (190 hp), or 157 kW (213 hp) with the optional C-Type cylinder head. An automatic transmission option became available. The choice of three different body styles – roadster or open two seater, drophead coupĆ© and fixed head coupĆ© – remained unchanged.
The XK 140 stayed in production for only three years before being replaced by the XK 150.

– 1995 Volkswagen Golf III convertible

– low unwarranted mileage of 61,100 km
– 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine 85 kW (116 hp) and automatic gearbox
– silver metallic exterior with grey-black fabric interior
– multi function display and air conditioning
– German registration documents

– the all-time popular open Golf, larger and more comfortable than the classic “strawberry basket”

In 1974, Volkswagen had presented its first Golf – a great improvement over its predecessor, the VW beetle and its air-cooled engine in the rear. The Golf was, from the start, a front-wheel drive car, with water-cooled transverse engines – and hugely successful. After nine years, the second generation was introduced in 1983. The characteristic shape and basic concept remained unchanged, but the new series was slightly more rounded and significantly larger – 5,5 cm wider and a full 28 cm longer. When the 3rd generation was presented in 1991, it had again grown larger and significantly heavier. The “Variant”, a station wagon, first became available in 1994. A new convertible was also added to the lineup, finally sending the Golf I convertible into retirement after 13 years.
For the Golf III, the choice of engines started at 1.4 litres of capacity and went up to the powerful 2.9 litre VR6 producing 142 kW (193 hp). Many Golf III were sold with the new direct-injection turbo diesel engines (TDI), available as of 1993 and upgraded in 1996. Unfortunately, in terms of rust prevention and build quality, the 3rd generation couldn’t quite match its predecessor.

– honest MG A roadster, matching numbers car, original French delivery
– model year 1956, therefore qualified to participate in the Mille Miglia
– engine completely revised in 2001
– has recently received major service
– new brake pads, master and wheel brake cylinders, new set of tyres

– ā‚¬ 6,500 invested in 2001 and another ā‚¬ 5,000 in 2016
– German registration documents, valid technical approval until 01/2019 and historic plates
– very enjoyable and very British roadster

The MG A was designed by Sidney Enever as early as 1951. After failing to obtain the go-ahead by the BMC chairman, the project got shelved, only to be brought back four years later when sales of the somewhat outdated T series were dropping. With its stunning looks, it quickly became the most successful British sports car of its time, with just over 100,000 cars made.
Engine-wise, the original 1489 cc was replaced with a 1588 cc in 1959 and then again in 1961 with a 1622 cc. Even though the A series is best known for its roadsters, a coupĆ© version was available as of 1956, which, its richer features’ list notwithstanding, never even remotely reached the popularity of the open variant.
In case you’ve been wondering: There’s no way to lock the doors on the roadster, as they have neither lock nor handle. You simply reach in and pull a cord…
MG A prices have been continuously on the rise for the past 50 years straight.

Rare and popular 993, almost in a new car condition

In late 1993, Porsche presented the successor to the 964, internally named 993, as the 4th generation of its 911 model. It was the last of the air-cooled models and as this marked the end of an era. Consequently, the 993 has become one of the most popular 911 variants. From the outside, the 993 is visually distinguishable by the smoother bumpers, the larger rear wing and the more flared wheel arches. Of course, it also brought a number of technical improvements over its predecessor: A 6-speed gearshift became standard. As of 1995, the Tiptronic was improved and steering wheel controls added. The ABS brake system was also improved, and numerous other components altered. In 1996, an all-new Targa was added to the lineup, it featured a retractable glass roof instead of the removable roof section of previous models.
Needless to say, the power output was upped for the new 911 once again. Early 993 Carreras with their M64/05 engines produce 200 kW (272 hp), later ones have the M64/21 engine with 210 kW (285 hp). The Carrera RS version from this era topped this by producing no less than 221 kW (300 hp) – from an air-cooled, naturally aspirated 3.8 litre 6-cylinder engine.

In navy terms, a corvette is a small, easily maneuverable warship. GM borrowed the name in 1953 when they presented the very first concept vehicle of what was to become the best known American sports car of all times. Right until today, the “Vette”, now in its 7th generation, is in high esteem with motoring enthusiasts around the world.
The first generation Corvette was Chevrolet’s reply to Porsche and Jaguar: a compact roadster which was lightweight and sporty. The low kerb weight was achieved by using a fibreglass body on a steel frame, a revolutionary concept at its time. The sportiness of course was due to powerful engines, especially with the introduction of the “Small-block” V8 in 1956.
In the first model year, no more than 300 Corvettes were produced, mostly hand-built, and indeed it took a while until the car had reached a certain level of popularity. For the 1956 model year, the Corvette was given a new body with an improved convertible top. Glass windows were introduced and a hardtop became available. Production numbers first crossed the 10,000 mark in 1960. Over the course of one decade, a total of 69,015 first generation Corvettes were built. In 1963, the 1st generation was replaced by C2, the forever popular “Sting Ray”.
