In order to get the Porsche Group out of the sales and earnings crisis, the decision was made to develop a mid-engine sports car in line with the roadster boom at the time.
A prototype of the Porsche Boxster was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in 1993. The market launch of the roadster with a boxer engine was in Germany in 1996 with the type designation 986. After around 9 years of production, the successor, the Boxster (type 987), was introduced. In addition to the changes in the interior, center console, door panels and steering wheel, the design of the headlights was changed, similar to the model series of the Porsche 911. At the same time, the performance was increased to 176 KW (240 PS) when it was launched.
The third generation of the Porsche Boxster was only released as Type 981 in spring 2012.

Mercedes-Benz 300 TE 4Matic

– 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 TE 4Matic in grey metallic
– one of only 34,177 units built with 4Matic drive, from an overall 2.6 million W124
– automatic all-wheel-drive for perfect handling on and off road
– elevated chassis, ABS and front airbags for a comfortable and safe driving experience
– climate control, power windows and electric side mirrors
– reportedly accident-free car, service booklet available
– sunroof, power steering, roof railing and fog lamps
– powerful inline-six cylinder engine with 132 kW (179 hp)
– interior with almost no signs of wear
– paint and engine in good condition
– a station wagon as rare as the W124 convertible
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 02/2020

Even a hugely successful car series needs to be replaced eventually, so the Mercedes W 123, a volume seller with over 2.7 million units, was superseded by the W 124 in 1984. For the next decade and more, this Mercedes defined the standard for mid-size luxury cars. The styling came from Bruno Sacco, and engineering as well as build quality were nothing short of excellent – so much so, that its fans have taken to nicknaming the W 124 “the last true Mercedes”. Despite its somewhat box-shaped lines with the prominent radiator grille, typical for Mercedes cars of its era, the W 124 actually had a very low drag coefficient of 0.28 (with slim tyres).
A wide selection of engines was available: petrol engines with 4, 6 or 8 cylinders and diesel engines with 4, 5 or 6 cylinders. Apart from the sedan, which was by far the most common body style, there were also station wagons (as of 1985), coupés (1987) and convertibles (1991), as well as rare long-wheelbase variants. The W 124 was facelifted in 1989 and then again in 1993, when the name “E-Class” was introduced.
Production numbers of the W 124 reached almost the level of its predecessor, totalling 2,562,143 vehicles.

The essence of automotive beauty

No other than Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type the most beautiful car ever made, and even if beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, not too many people would have contradicted him since. The debut of the XK-E, called “E-Type”, in 1961 was nothing short of a sensation. Its unrivalled elegant styling was complemented by plenty of power, and all of that at a relatively moderate price.

Over the years, the successful model was modified in several ways: From spring of 1966 there was a 2 + 2-seater version with an extended wheelbase. In 1967, the headlight covers fell victim to American safety regulations. On the engine side, there were six-cylinder engines with 3.8 and later 4.2 litres, and as of 1971, twelve-cylinder motors to choose from. Production of the compact two-seaters ceased in 1971, the so-called Series III was only offered as a 2+2-seater.

A classic car of superlatives that became an icon of the motoring world.
The New York City Museum of Modern Art recognised the significance of the E-Type’s design in 1996 by adding a blue roadster to its permanent design collection, one of only six automobiles to receive the distinction

NSU Ro 80

Such a fine sight, this Ro 80. This example of the technology pioneer has, according to the previous owner, spent almost two decades “hibernating” in a garage, sheltered, but completely unmoved. Accordingly, more than a little “spring cleaning” will be required, before the 2-disc Wankel engine will purr like on day one. The vehicle is technically in an untinkered original condition – compression is ok, but the exact scope of the work required has not been determined.

The inside gives a well-kept impression. The beige velour blends well with the original paint in blue metallic. The sky is clean, as are the seats, and the interior altogether without major flaws. The original radio is also on board.
The chrome parts are in good, albeit slightly tarnished state. The vehicle is reportedly accident-free, only a slight dent in the driver’s door casts a small shadow on the overall picture.

All in all a car that absolutely deserves to be carefully restored and recommissioned. It will be worth it!

A connoisseur’s sedan – Revolutionary technology in designer costume

When NSU presented the Ro 80 in 1967, the car created quite a stir, what with numerous innovations all packed into one vehicle. Above and beyond all else, there’s the Wankel engine, which unfortunately was rather damage-prone at first, ruining the reputation of the otherwise ingenious engineering feat, even if the problems got completely resolved over time. Other features were, among others, disc brakes on all four wheels, or electro-pneumatically actuated semi-automatic gearshift. Then as now an eye-catcher: the wedge-shaped body, anticipating design tendencies by about two decades.

The enthusiasts’ scene of the Ro 80 owners is particularly active, so it is no problem to use one of these stylish cars as a daily driver. What is, however, rather difficult to describe is this unique ride on the motorway, with the engine noise getting lesser and lesser as the speed increases.

Packard Patrician 400

  • In

A veritable gem for collectors of vintage American automobiles!

This Packard Patrician 400 is an early model, built in 1951. It features the highest trim level available at its time. The four-door sedan comes according to its previous owner in an unrestored, original state. Owing to the very dry conditions in the desert state of Arizona, it is largely free of visible rust and still bears an ancient paintwork with truly charming patina.

Technically, too, the Patrician is in a very decent state for its age. The straight eight engine with a capacity of 5.4 litres starts up and runs, the car is conditionally fit to drive.

The Packard has been cleared through customs and comes with the US title.

This is a very rare specimen which ought to cut a fine figure at classic car get-togethers.

Packard’s Swan Song

The Packard company had, before WWII, established a name as a premium car manufacturer. Their somewhat traditional approach with regards to both engineering and styling had served them well in the past, but became increasingly problematic in the 1950s, when constant model changes became standard. The all-new model series released in 1951 sold successfully for a few years, but could not prevent the demise of the Packard company in 1956.

The Patrician 400 was the premium trim level of the series, with plenty of chrome, including chrome teeth in the grile and chrome ports on the rear fenders. Its interiour was luxurious. The engine was still a straight eight, with 5.3 litres of capacity, which ran very smoothly owing to nine main bearings on the crankshaft. All Patricians came with a “Ultramatic” automatic transmission.
The 1955 model year brought a last facelift and the introduction of a more modern V8 engine. It came too late to save the dying swan.

BMW 325i Cabrio (E30)

– 1987 BMW 325i convertible from the E30 series
– Very chic colour combination with royal blue metallic paint and beige interior
– Matching softtop
– delivered and always registered in Germany, within the same family for 23 years
– 2.5 litre inline 6-cylinder engine with 125 kW (170 hp) and automatic gearbox
– Power windows front and rear
– Wooden Nardi steering wheel
– Heated seats
– Windbreaker
– Original BMW 15″ alloy wheels
– Original owner’s manual and service booklet available
– German registration documents

BMW’s 2nd generation of the 3 series, the E30, replaced its popular predecessor in 1982. With its straight lines, Claus Luthe – who had penned the timeless NSU Ro 80 – created a car that perfectly catered to the taste of its era. The handsome and well-built cars with their wonderfully smooth engines were originally available as 2- and 4-door sedans. As early as 1983, the Baur company at Stuttgart produced a convertible which was distributed through BMW’s official retailers. With its fixed window frames and the roll bar, it featured typical 1980s styling cues. Two years later, BMW presented their own convertible – the first in 15 years. And how different it looked in its completely open state, devoid of the aforementioned bars and beams.
It became an immediate success. Over 140,000 units were built until production ceased in 1993, three years after the launch of the E36 sedan.
30 years after its presentation, the E30 convertible has already become a sought-after classic. It is getting exceedingly difficult to find a well-preserved, original specimen – simply because many have suffered dearly at the hands of a financially inflexible clientele of 3rd and 4th hand owners attraced by the racing qualities of the E30 3 series.

Mercedes-Benz 500 SL

This well-maintained specimen of the W107 flagship model 500 SL is presented in classic arctic white (MB color code 147) with dark blue leather interior. Perfectly matching, the soft top is also kept in dark blue. The vehicle is equipped with the 5.0 liter V8 engine and produces 180 kW (245 hp). The unwarranted mileage reads 56,100 km, first registration was in 1988.

The comprehensive features’ list not only includes the convenient automatic gearbox, but also cruise control, automatic climate control, rear jump seats, insulating glass, heated seats and the 15-hole alloys.
The condition inside and out is very well maintained for its age. Traces of use such as slight stone chips up front, a scratch on the left wing or the wear on the seat cushion of the driver’s seat make the vehicle only authentic.

It is a Japanese first delivery. The car was re-imported to Germany in 2013 and is ready to be registered.

A design classic in ageless colours.

A dream of automobile! From 1971 – 1989 the R107 founded the unbeatable reputation of the brand Mercedes-Benz in the open two-seater segment.

The top model 500 SL – equipped with the 450 SLC 5.0 known 5.0-liter V8 engine (M 117) – replaced the 450 SL and from the beginning with its 240, later 245 hp (or 223 hp with catalytic converter). This brings the car from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds and delivers a top speed of 225 km / h (with catalyst 215 km / h). The production of the R107 series ended in August 1989, more than 18 years after the start of production. It is the longest-built chassis from Mercedes-Benz.

This vehicle sat over time numerous standards with continuous innovations and is now one of the eternal classics among the cars.

A must have for any classic car lover!

– from the penultimate year of production
– Delivered in Germany and always approved here
– Engine revised in 2013, invested over € 6,000, receipt available
– 5-speed manual transmission, introduced for the 1979 model year
– Sports suspension, steel sunroof, green heat protection glazing
– runs on the popular Pirelli alloy wheels
– An appealing example of the most popular version of the Golf I, the original GTI
– Historic plates

In 1974, Volkswagen presented its first Golf – an immense improvement over its predecessor, the VW beetle and its air-cooled engine in the rear. The Golf was, from the start, a front-wheel drive car, with water-cooled transverse engines – and hugely successful. The basic version originally had 37 kW (50 hp), alternatively one could order a 1.5 litre engine with 51 kW (70 hp). As of 1976, Diesel engines were available, too. The Golf GTI with 81 kW (110 hp) of power from 1.6 litres of capacity, introduced in 1976, for many people represents the epitome of the “hot hatch”. No wonder these cars have gained such popularity: they offer a first-rate driving experience, akin to that of conventional sports cars, while not compromising any of their everyday usability.
After nine years and 6 million of sold units, the second generation was introduced in 1983. The Golf I convertible, however, continued to be built for another decade, outliving the entire Golf II series, which was built no less than 6.3 million times, but of which VW never made an open variant. The pick-up version called Caddy, which was based on the Golf I and of which 200,000 units were produced, should also be mentioned.

Sir William Lyons’ iconic XJ had been on the market for nearly three decades by the time Jaguar finally unveiled the successor model, named XJ40. Compared to its predecessor, the new Jaguar featured a more angular styling. It also brought an improved build quality, and the manufacturing process had been optimized for greater efficiency. The XJ40 remained in production until 1994, when it was replaced by the X300 – which re-introduced the more curvaceous looks of the original XJ while being mechanically similar to the XJ40. In 1997, in a significant break with company tradition, both the inline-6 cylinder as well as the V12 engine were phased out, and a new V8 introduced to replace them. The facelifted car was appropriately named X308. The V8 engine came in two sizes, with 3.2 or 4.0 litres of capacity, the latter also available in combination with a supercharger. All cars had an automatic 5-speed transmission. As was customary, Jaguar also offered Daimler and Vanden Plas variants of their luxury sedan.
Total production figures for these Jaguars amount to just over 200,000 units of the XJ40, 92,000 of the X300 and 126,000 for the X308, including the respective submodels.

“Midget” was a popular name for MG’s small sports cars; it had been employed since 1929 and had also been used for the long-running T series production of which ended in 1955. The “new Midget” of 1961, however, was not strictly speaking an MG at all, instead it was a badge-engineered version of the Austin-Healey Sprite Mk. II – a fact which MG enthusiasts didn’t like much at first. However, the lightweight open two seater became a great success and ended up out-selling its Austin-Healey counterpart. During its 18-year production run, the Midget was facelifted several times: The Mk II (1964) brought wind-up windows and swivelling quarter lights. The Mk III (1966) featured a permanently attached hood which was much easier to use. In 1974, the Midget 1500 came with large plastic bumpers and an increased ride height to meet US regulations. Of course, engine size and power output also increased over time: from 948 cc / 34 kW (46 hp) originally to 1,493 cc / 48 kW (66 hp). An interesting detail is that the shape of the rear-wheel arches went from a somewhat square shape to round, and back again. Across all versions, just short of 225,000 MG Midgets were built.
