This Mexico beetle is a 1200 L version, 25 kW (34 hp), built in 1978 and originally registered in Germany on 06/10/1978. Unwarranted mileage: 87,605 kilometers. Historic plates, TUV 9/2016.

The vehicle has been professionally restored and is almost entirely rust free. Chrome, wheels and tyres are good. The engine was also revised and runs flawlessly, with many new parts. The paintwork in the original colour “Manila Green” (L63Y) is very good. The interior with black and white upholstery is good, only wear on the side cheek of the driver’s seat and the non-original headrest covers mitigate the impressive condition. The vehicle is very authentic, has 2 keys, the original operating instructions and a contemporary radio.

A very beautiful version of this classic that brings a smile to many people!

Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

The Karmann Ghia – The dream car of the 50s

This Karmann Ghia was produced eight years after the start of production of the convertible (1957). Insofar some modifications are already included. Thus it has the larger headlights and “nostrils”, an armrest on the driver’s side, a windscreen washer system and a headlamp flasher.

The car was re-imported from the US and had been restored there a few years ago, unfortunately not very professionally and not in perfect quality (e. g. US-painting with inadequate preparatory work and partly varnished seals). Technically, the vehicle is in good condition and equipped with the 1.6-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. Brakes and clutch function properly. The underbody is rust free and the bumpers are new. The chrome is complete. The on-board voltage was converted from 6V to 12V. Convertible top and interior present themselves pretty neat.

This is a accident/ restoration car that needs repair before registration/ roadworthiness.

The preparatory work for the Type 14 at Karmann in Osnabrück began in early spring of 1953. The Italian design studio Ghia was charged with the draft of a coupé based on the Beetle.

The prototype – presented at the end of 1953 – wowed the client and was also favourably accepted in Wolfsburg: The serial development of a 2 + 2-seater coupé was decided and the production of the Karmann Ghia was launched in August 1955. On the 38th IAA the Karmann Ghia Cabriolet was presented. The vehicle was produced in Osnabruck from 1st November 1957 and priced at DM 8,250.

Karmann united with this vehicle the solid engineering of the Beetle with the elegant body of Italian design. To reduce the tilty and the oversteer tendency, the Karmann Ghia was fitted from the start with a front roll stabiliser. An enlargement of the front seat area has been achieved by the wider body compared to the Beetle. The running boards were omitted.

A total of 50,000 units were built, many of them went to the United States.

Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL 4.5

A real rarity is this Mercedes 280 SEL 4.5 of the W108 series (Quantity: 8,173).
It was produced with the 4.5-liter eight-cylinder engines especially for the American market only from April 1971 to November 1972 and provides 146 kW (199 hp).

This is a 2014 reimported restoration object in dark blue with blue leatherette interior. The vehicle is richly equipped and has in addition to the mandatory automatic transmission amongst others air conditioning, power windows and a sun roof. Both the body side and technically the vehicle are in need of repair / restoration.

A beautiful vehicle for travelling back in history.

There is a current Classic Data appraisal of € 17.000 (condition 3+) and furthermore investigation reports in accordance with §21 and §23 Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) are available.

The S-Class of the late 60s

Even if the W 108 model series was never officially called “S-class”, it was just that: The top model of the German premium manufacturer, predestined for the rich and famous in all countries. Presidents, business leaders, successful businessmen and nobles should buy it. Since these gentlemen preferred being chauffeured, a long-wheelbase version was offered during the entire construction period.

One could choose between the 6- and 8-cylinder engines, whereupon the biggest, a powerful 8-cylinder engine with 4.5 liter capacity, was produced only for the American market. Apart from that, the big Benz was – as always – also a technology and innovation leader, it had disc brakes on all wheels and a dual brake circuit. The design was chosen deliberately free of short-lived fads (like the tail fins of the previous model).

Porsche 914 1.8

– Porsche 914 1.8 in amazing colour combination
– originally painted in green, now bearing “claret mica” paintwork
– bi-colour (beige / black) leather interior, renewed
– 1974 model with the rare 1.8 litre engine
– California car, recently re-imported, reportedly accident-free
– targa roof, bi-colour alloys, sports suspension
– 5-speed manual gearbox
– unwarranted mileage of 43,000 mls according to odometer
– original maintenance booklet and several repair receipts available
– being offered as restoration project, as it still needs a few things done

The Porsche 914 – or VW-Porsche 914, since it was a cooperation between the two companies – was launched in 1969 as an entry-level model for Porsche, replacing the 912. It was also considered a potential successor to the Karmann Ghia as an upmarket sports model from the Volkswagen point of view.
Technically, the very lightweight car – curb weight less than one ton – was very much up to date and offered extraordinarily good road handling owing to its mid-engine layout. It was available as a VW version with a 4-cylinder engine, called 914/4, or as 914/6, which accordingly had a 6-cylinder engine installed and was sold with a Porsche badge. The 914 has often been described as unsuccessful, but this is really only true for the German market. In the US, where all models were sold as Porsches, at least the 914/4 did remarkably well for a number of years. A production span of 7 years and a total output of 115,646 vehicles built is not a figure to be scoffed at for a 1970s sports car. The 914/6 suffered from its hefty price tag, it was only slightly cheaper than the base model of the 911 and was phased out as early as 1972 after only 3,332 examples.
The mid-engine layout was only resurrected by Porsche in 1996 for the Boxster.

Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagode

– 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL “Pagoda”
– originally delivered to the US, not yet converted to meet German legal requirements
– engine starts up and runs, brakes and gearshift in working order
– injection and exhaust system recently renewed
– rocker panels welded in the past, no current need for welding reported
– car was repainted at some point of its life and is said to be rust-free
– leather interior in good condition, agreeably patinated
– rare jump seat in the back
– soft top without holes or cuts, linkage mechanically sound, plastic window needs replacing
– with regards to the pending work this Pagoda is being offered as a restoration project

The Pagoda – a design classic par excellence!

When presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963, the W113 had the difficult task of replacing two models at a time, the 190 SL as well as the 300 SL. A task that was almost equivalent to the quadrature of the circle, but was solved brilliantly. Because of its smooth surfaces, the spacious interior and the absence of decorative elements, it came across as very “masculine” and made the predecessors with their rounded styling look outdated.
It was available as 230 SL (1963-1967), 250 SL (1967) and 280 SL (1968-1971), built with either manual or automatic transmission, to a total of 48,912 vehicles. Because of its slightly concave hardtop, available as an accessory, it was nicknamed Pagoda.
The W113 was suitable for any occasion – be it for the opera, the golf course or the small shopping – and the main thing: it looked good on you!

Porsche 912 Coupé

  • By:

This version of the Porsche 912 Coupé is a true classic and distinguishable from a 911 only to connaisseurs. The four-cylinder engine delivers 66 kW (90 hp), unwarranted mileage is 74,000.

The red US-painting presents itself in quite decent, but not professionally impeccable quality (seals also painted) and with little damage. The car body is largely rust-free and with the black Fuchs wheels results in an attractive overall appearance.

The interior with cognac-colored leatherette seats and rear jump seats as well as the sky are very well preserved. And the chic leather sports steering wheel not only looks good, but enhances the fun. Only the door panels – recessed by boxes and no longer existing bags – are a topic for the future.

German technical approval (TÜV) is valid till 08/2015. Historic plates have been issued.

To quote the Porsche slogan: This really is “Driving in its most beautiful form”!

The popular 356 was past its prime in the sixties. It was succeeded in 1964 by the newly presented 911. In contrast to the precursor, which could never hide its VW Beetle genes completely, the 911 was a real power pack.

The idea for a smaller version was then as simple as obvious: Take the 911 and reduce it by two cylinders. The result was the Porsche 912. The four-cylinder had only 5 hp less than its “big brother”, making the 912 not one of the most powerful sports cars, but sporty nonetheless. The coupe delivers up to 185 km/h, in those days a remarkable value. Finally, the smaller engine also brought a weight saving of 100 kg for the economy version.

The reasonable price was what made the 912 successful. After 30,300 cars – including 2,562 Targa, some of which were used by the highway patrol – production was halted in August 1969, and the successor, the VW-Porsche 914, was ready. Anyone who follows the history of Porsche in the Sixties, cannot avoid this popular model.

Jaguar E-Type Series III

– Jaguar E-Type Series III Convertible from final year of production, 1974
– perfect colour combination: British racing green exterior with beige leather interior
– black convertible top and tarpaulin
– in highly presentable condition throughout, no pending repairs
– 5.3 litre 12 cylinder engine with 197 kW (268 hp) and manual gearbox
– originally delivered to the US, imported in 2009
– reportedly accident-free car with extensive document file
– over € 28,000 invested in repair and maintenance over the past few years
– 2016 Classic Data appraisal states a replacement value of € 110,000 (condition 2)
– German registration documents, valid technical approval until 04/2020 and historic plates
– stunningly beautiful example of one of the most legendary cars of all times

The essence of automotive beauty
No other than Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type the most beautiful car ever made, and even if beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, not too many people would have contradicted him since. The debut of the XK-E, called “E-Type”, in 1961 was nothing short of a sensation. Its unrivalled elegant styling was complemented by plenty of power, and all of that at a relatively moderate price.
Over the years, the successful model was modified in several ways: From the spring of 1966 there was a 2 + 2-seater version with an extended wheelbase. In 1967, the headlight covers fell victim to American safety regulations. On the engine side, there were six-cylinder engines with 3.8 and later 4.2 litres, and as of 1971, twelve-cylinder motors to choose from. Production of the compact two-seaters ceased in 1971, the so-called Series III was only offered as a 2+2-seater.
A classic of superlatives, that’s all there is to it.

Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC

With a production date of 1972, this is an early model Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC, which was first delivered to France. It stands out from the numerous R107 re-imports as a largely original vehicle with comprehensive ownership history, which has remained in the same family of owners for nearly all its life. The car has been largely repainted and is virtually free of rust according to the consignor. The SLC presents itself in a well cared-for condition inside and out. The Mercedes runs on beautiful Fuchs alloys, a set of original steel rims and hubcaps is included. The Becker Grand Prix radio is on board, complete with electric aerial. The 3.5 litre V8 engine produces 147 kW (200 hp) and sends drive to the rear wheels by means of a 3-speed automatic transmission. The previous owner maintained this Mercedes meticulously, renewing and replacing worn parts wherever necessary, so the SL is mechanically sound and runs very smooth. All services and repairs since 2010 are fully documented.
All original booklets, including owner’s manual, service booklet, radio manual, data card, as well as numerous repair receipts are available. A Classic Data brief appraisal from 2012 estimates the market value of this coupe at € 15,500 (condition: 2-). It comes with German registration documents, valid technical approval until 03/2016 and historic plates.
R107 coupés in this condition are hard to find – this one is bound to win you over!

Based on the R 107, Mercedes created a sports coupé with the series designation C 107, which was first presented in 1971 and marketed as SLC. The SLC’s wheelbase was a full 36 cm longer than that of the SL. The coupe was a 5-seater, slightly heavier than the convertible, but the better drag coefficient made up for that, their top speed was identical. Its distinguishing styling cues were the very large, curved rear window and the slats in the back – born out of necessity in order to fully lower the rear side windows.

There were the M 110 six-cylinder engine, as well as the M 116 and M 117 eight-cylinder engines to choose from. The most powerful version, the 450 SLC 5.0 or, as of 1980, 500 SLC offered 176 kW (240 hp).

The coupé was produced for 10 years – a long time, though considerably shorter than the 18 years of the R 107. During this period 62,888 units were built – much fewer than the convertible variant.

Fiat 126 A

The cuddly Fiat 126, ingeniously simple
– Air-cooled 2-cylinder boxer engine (Citroen Visa) with dual exhaust system
– 4-speed manual gearbox
– German registration, 5 vehicle owners
– Sympathetic color combination, green outside – cognac inside
– Chromed bumpers rear and front with bumper horns and plastic corners
– The paintwork, all chrome parts and the glazing show only minor signs of use,
– Completely rust-free body
– In the interior hardly patina, only slight wear and tear

The 126er is in a good, ready to drive technical condition

The Fiat 126 was presented at the 1972 Turin Motor Show as the successor to the Fiat 500 Nuova. Fiat would have liked to take over the design of its successful predecessor. But after almost 20 years, the spherical body shape no longer struck a chord with the 70s. Fiat designer Sartorelli designed the new body in a contemporary, angular style, with the benefit that there was now enough space for 4 occupants. The fuel tank was placed under the rear seat, now foldable. This increased the luggage space from 30 to 100 liters. The chassis and the engine were largely taken over from the predecessor. The Fiat plants produced almost 1.4 million 126s in Italy until 1980. Fiat officially ended production of the 126 in 1987, but in parallel, since 1973, the car was built under license by the Polish FSM in Bielsko-Biala and Tychy until 2000. Within its history, the Fiat 126 has undergone numerous changes. Among them, two convertible models were created. One version with a roll bar and almost original size doors was produced by Bosmal on FSM basis. The second convertible version was produced by Pop without the roll bar and smaller doors. This resulted in a small car with the flair of a convertible. From 1987 on, the Pop company produced about 700 units of the 126 Cabriolet with the water-cooled 700 cc 2-cylinder with 26 hp.

Ford Thunderbird

Would you believe, this Ford Thunderbird convertible will be celebrating its 50th birthday next year!

According to its previous owner, the car was in everyday use in California before being imported to Germany. It is a so-called “Flair Bird”, the fourth generation of Thunderbird which was offered with this styling from 1964 to 1966. With this specimen built in 1966, it is a late model of its generation, already featuring the V8 with increased power, delivering 235 kW (315 hp), and of course the front disc brakes which had become standard one year earlier.

The T-bird comes in the popular black/black colour scheme. The outside is virtually rust-free due to its Southern California provenience but shows distinct traces of wear and tear. The interior is apparently complete and includes the sports-roadster cover for the rear seats.

The convertible is customs cleared and is being offered with its US title.

Starting out as a sports car in direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette or European rivals such as Jaguar and Porsche, later becoming a “Personal Luxury Car” for classy cruising – the Ford Thunderbird was always a product of the Zeitgeist of his era. The company’s market strategists really had their eyes fixed on the market, and their strategy proved highly successful for decades.

We distinguish a total of 11 generations, from the “Classic Bird” and “Square Bird” of the 50s, via “Bullet Bird”, “Flair Bird” and “Glamour Bird” of the 1960s, “Big Bird” and “Torino Bird” of the 1970s, and “Box Bird”, “Aero Bird”, “Super Bird” of the 80s / 90s all the way to the “Retro Bird”, which from 2002 to 2005 attempted a not-so successful revival.

In the models before 1980, you’d find the enormous, thirsty V8 engines with capacities up to 7.5 litres – typically American. After years of “longer, wider, heavier” the trend was reversed, with later model Thunderbirds being lighter and sportier again.
