BMW 2002

– BMW 2002 first registered in 1979
– silver-metallic paintwork
– 2.0 litre engine with a power output of 88 kW (120 hp)
– unwarranted mileage of 100 km (5 digit odometer)
– blue leatherette interior in good condition
– Alpina alloys
– brakes repaired, spark plugs replaced
– Spanish registration documents

At the Frankfurt Motor Show of 1961, BMW had presented its “New Class”, a very modern 4-door sedan. Buoyed by its success, the company as of 1966 started producing a 2-door version with a shortened wheelbase. This was to become the starting point for many generations of compact executive cars by BMW. The so-called “02 series” is named after an originally unofficial appendix to the model designation “1600-2”, which as of 1971 found its way into the official nomenclature, when the cars were sold as 1502, 1602, 1802 and 2002, the numbers roughly corresponding to their engine capacity. All 02 series cars came with four-cylinder engines, performance-increased variants were named “ti” and “tii”. In 1973, the 2002 turbo with 125 kW (170 hp) of power marked the top of the range. Apart from the standard 2-door sedan, there also was a hatchback model called Touring (1971-1974), and two types of convertible, both built by Baur: The full convertible (1968-1971) was replaced for torsional rigidity reasons by a Targa-style model with rollover bars, available from 1971-1975. The 2002tii will be remembered for its successes in racing. A lesser known fact is that two battery-electric concept cars were built for the 1972 Olympic Games.

Bentley Azure

– 1998 Bentley Azure
– classic colour combination of dark blue exterior with light beige leather interior
– matching dark blue soft top
– 6.75 litre V8 engine providing 286 kW (389 hp), with automatic gearbox
– beautiful burlwood interior trim
– dual climate control
– electrically adjustable, heated seats with memory function
– runs on 17″ Bentley alloy wheels
– Dutch registration documents

Its sheer dimensions are bound to impress: A length of over 5.3 metres and a kerb weight of no less than 2.6 tons set the Bentley Azure apart from most other convertibles. It was certainly not designed to be a sports car, but its performance figures didn’t need to fear comparison: Compensating for its lack of aerodynamics with sheer power from the marque‘s well-known 6.75 litre V8, the Azure was able to reach a top speed of 241 km/h and sprint from 0 to 100 in 6.5 seconds if necessary. The luxury convertible was based on the Continental R platform. Its elaborate soft top was manufactured by Pininfarina, while final assembly took place at Bentley‘s Crewe plant.
Over the course of 9 years, only 1,403 units were built. It was one of the most expensive vehicles on the market, priced at over half a million DM at the time of its launch. The VW takeover of the Bentley brand in 1998 did not mean the end of production. VW decided to bring out a new version after a delay: Based on the Arnage platform, the 2nd generation Azure went on sale in 2006 and continued until 2009, with performance figures upped even further: The top model had over 370 kW (500 hp) and 1,000 Nm of torque.

Volkswagen Golf II GTI

– Golf GTI, the epitome of the “hot hatch” for many people
– first-rate driving experience combined with everyday usability
– decommissioned in 2009, still by its original German owner
– wax sealed, then kept in dry storage until 2016
– appealing overall condition
– 1.8 litre four-cylinder engine with 82 kW (112 hp) of power
– Webasto parking heater installed
– sunroof as well as air conditioning
– new timing belt fitted and engine fluids replaced
– German registration documents

In 1974, Volkswagen had presented its first Golf – a great improvement over its predecessor, the VW beetle and its air-cooled engine in the rear. The Golf was, from the start, a front-wheel drive car, with water-cooled transverse engines – and hugely successful. After nine years, the second generation was introduced in 1983. The characteristic shape and basic concept remained unchanged, but the new series was slightly more rounded and significantly larger – 5,5 cm wider and a full 28 cm longer! The choice of available engines was large, starting with 40 kW (55 hp) in the basic model and going up all the way to 118 kW (160 hp) in the GTI G60 towards the end of the production run. A total of around 6.4 million Golf II were built, topping the registration statistics in many countries. Even today, the Golf II is still a common sight on German roads, which is due to their effective rust prevention and superior build quality.
The “Golf Country” (1990 – 1991) with four-wheel drive, higher ground clearance and bullbars anticipated the concept of modern-day SUVs, but not their success. A small series (100 copies) of the Golf II were built as electric vehicles “citySTROMer”. Interestingly, no factory convertible was offered, so the Golf I convertible (1980 – 1993) actually outlived the Golf II.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3

  • In

This 300 SEL 6.3 was delivered to the US in 1968 and comes with comprehensive documentation (inter alia, the international registration, issued 21 October 1968). The vehicle has, according to the previous owner, been partially restored in the US. Painted in the original Mercedes colour 903, namely blue (just blue!).

The paint is good, chrome also. Technically the car makes a good impression, e.g. the entire air suspension has reportedly been done up. The interior is a dream with the original leather seats in dark blue and in very good condition. The wood is high-quality, as well as the carpets and the sky. Except for the missing sun roof the vehicle is richly equipped. The air conditioning is out of order.

German technical approval (TÜV to 07/2016) and historic plates enable an instant registration.

An absolute dream car in a really presentable condition!

Fastest four-door production sedan of its time!

The Mercedes-Benz W109 (300 SEL) had in contrast to the W108 models an air suspension and was produced from September 1965 until autumn 1972 and exclusively provided with the longer wheel base.

Top model of the series W109 was the 300 SEL 6.3 in March 1968, which has the V8 engine and automatic transmission of the Mercedes 600 and 184 kW (250 hp at 4,000 / min) with the performance potential of top-class sports cars. Its top speed is 220 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (factory specification). From the outside the 6.3 was only recognisable by the wider tyres, the H1 halogen twin headlamps and additional high beams as well as inside by the rev counter instead of the clock between the two large round instruments.

The fact that this was a good base for motorsport successes, was demonstrated by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and his newly founded AMG company.

Rolls-Royce Corniche

Who wouldn’t wish for an opportunity to escape the daily routine in luxury?
This Rolls-Royce Corniche from May 1980 is a convertible with a difference, which was originally delivered to the US. It is one of the characteristics of luxury cars made by this most renowned of British manufacturers that they have a certain instrinsic timelessness: By looking at it, few people will be prepared to guess that this dream car is already 35 years old. The wonderful workmanship and high quality materials have proven worthwhile. On the inside, the dark blue quilted leather seats, matching door panels and the burlwood dashboard are all in a presentable condition and lend the Corniche a very noble character indeed. The positive general impression is supported by the beautiful bicolour black/blue paintwork and well-preserved chrome.
The odometer displays an unwarranted mileage of merely 43,100 mls. The engine compartment which houses the massive V8 looks dry and clean, as does the fully carpeted boot.
A Classic Cata brief appraisal from 2011 estimated the market value of this Corniche in condition 2+ at € 65,000.
If it’s been your dream to embark on a journey into a different world, this may just be the right starting point.

The ultimate status symbol

No other car symbolises affluence and power in quite the same way as a Rolls-Royce, and a Corniche in particular. The convertible or two-door saloon (the term RR preferred over “coupe”) was built for a full 24 years, totaling 5,146 convertibles, 1.108 saloons and another 140 Corniches with the Bentley badge. At its debut, this was the most expensive series production car in the world. Its potent buyers were faced with a four-year waiting period.

The Corniche is powered by the well-established 6,750 litre V8 which accelerates the 2.3 ton luxury car to a maximum speed of around 190 km/h. Of course, not many Corniches would ever have been pushed to that limit, when it’s so much nicer to just waft along in great comfort – owing to the hydraulic self-levelling system – and unequalled style, with not much of a noise apart from the wind…

Even a hugely successful car series needs to be replaced eventually, so the Mercedes W123, a volume seller with over 2.7 million units, was superseded by the W124 in 1984. For the next decade and more, this Mercedes defined the standard for mid-size luxury cars. The styling came from Bruno Sacco, and engineering as well as build quality were nothing short of excellent – so much so, that its fans have taken to nicknaming the W124 “the last true Mercedes”. Despite its somewhat box-shaped lines with the prominent radiator grille, typical for Mercedes cars of its era, the W124 actually had a very low drag coefficient of 0.28 (with slim tires).
A wide selection of engines was available: petrol engines with 4, 6 or 8 cylinders and diesel engines with 4, 5 or 6 cylinders. Apart from the sedan, which was by far the most common body style, there were also station wagons (as of 1985), coupés (1987) and convertibles (1991), as well as rare long-wheelbase variants. The W124 was facelifted in 1989 and then again in 1993, when the name “E-Class” was introduced.
Production numbers of the W124 reached almost the level of its predecessor, totaling 2,562,143 vehicles.

Siata Spring

“In the summertime, when the weather is high” – who doesn’t remember Mungo Jerry’s jaunty song that topped the charts in 1970? And is there a better car to mirror this laid-back attitude to life than this Siata Spring from the same year? The exotic yellow little roadster is completely original and unrestored, even the underbody has not been welded, ever. The current owner bought the Siata in 1979, had it decommissioned and used it as an eye-catcher in his dealership. For a full 37 years, the car was kept in a dry and warm place, which explains its one-of-a-kind condition. The odometer displays only 37,100 km, same as it did when it went into storage many years ago. The engine, however, was started up from time to time to keep it in running order, and it runs smooth today. The car is driveable, thanks to some recently conducted work (including fuel pump and brakes), and will be given a new technical approval after the sale.
The state of preservation is quite incredible for a 46 years old, unrestored vehicle. The paint may not be perfect, areas of blistering are apparent due to prolonged covering, and the convertible top has hardened over the years, but it will be very difficult to find a Siata Spring in equally good, original condition. This is a rare collector’s item indeed.
So, what has Mungo Jerry got to say on this? “It’ll soon be summertime / and we’ll sing again / we’ll go driving…”

The Siata company was founded in 1926 by Giorgio Ambrosini, and specialised originally in modifying and tuning of Fiat cars. Production of their own Fiat-based sports cars commenced in 1948. For a brief two years, 1959-1961, Siata cooperated with Abarth. In the 1960s, the company was best known for elegantly styled coupé and roadster bodies. The Siata Spring, presented in 1967, was a bit of a breach with this tradition. It is best described as a retro-styled fun car. While taking styling cues from old-school British roadsters, such as swept wheel arches, running boards and separate headlights, it was no precise replica of any existing car. The large upright radiator grille was strictly ornamental, the engine being located in the rear as the underlying Fiat 850 technology postulated. The somewhat quirky little roadster was quite a success, but it could not prevent the Siata company from going bankrupt in 1970. The assembly line of the Spring was sold to a newly founded company in Sardinia named Orsa, and production was continued from 1973 to 1975 which minor improvements. Today, the Siata Spring is a very rare sight indeed, the surviving examples of this unique and likeable car are mostly held by a committed fan base. Owing to the ready availability of Fiat 850 spare parts and a well-organized club scene, the Siata Spring’s future looks bright.

– Radio Bavaria C Reverse II, rear window aerial

Brake pads front, incl warning contact renewed

The successor to the very popular E30 was presented in 1990 as the third generation of BMW’s 3 series. Internally called E36, the new sedan was considerably larger (and pricier) than its predecessor. It introduced completely new styling cues, such as the glass covers over the traditional double headlights, the forward-slanting kidney grille or the higher rear section. There were a variety of available body styles: The 2-door sedan had become an elegant coupé which shared very few parts with the 4-door variant. A shorter hatchback called Compact was added in 1994. In 1995, the Touring station wagon followed. A factory convertible as well as the (rare) Baur convertible, offered in the E36 series for the last time, and the Z3 roadster (E36/7), based on the E36 Compact platform, made the lineup complete.
The choice of engines was huge, with no petrol engine producing less than 73 kW (100 hp). Top of the range was the M3, which in 1992 offered 210 kW (286 hp) from a 3.0 litre engine, later being replaced by a 3.2 litre, 236 kW (321 hp) powerplant in 1997. 4- and 6-cylinder diesel engines were also available. The E36 was built totalling 2.5 million units at the BMW plants in Munich, Regensburg, Dingolfing as well as at the newly built Spartanburg factory in the US.

Fiat 500

This cult-car is a Fiat 500 F with former Italian registration and the folding roof for fresh air and convertible feeling.

First registration was in 1970, the original Italian registration document is available, unwarranted mileage approx. 33,100 km.

The car was painted some time ago in dark blue, however not absolutely faultless, and some rust peels are beginning to show. Overall, however, it is a very pretty appearance and the red interior with leatherette seats comes in a good condition. Also, technically brilliant the car runs and brakes excellent. Did you know you start the engine with a lever next to the handbrake?
Various engine parts have recently been replaced, such as the manifold, carburetor, fuel pump and ignition coil.

The car has already got historic plates and technical approval (TÜV) till 02/2017.

A sympathetic “Cinquecento” with fun factor.

Here it is, the original of the small bubble car! A car that one simply must love: the 1965 introduced Fiat 500. It is both an icon of the 60s as well as a symbol of Italian compact design.

With the new F-model front-hinged doors were introduced at the 500 for the first time. Motorised is the little one with a 496 cc engine with 18 HP. The roof, in earlier times fitted, then became part of the body. Less charming was that, unfortunately, also plastic was inserted.

Who wanted more luxury, had to pick up the Fiat 500 F L: quilted side panels, map pockets in the doors, chrome bracket on the bumpers and a broadband speedometer with fuel gauge are the top features. The 500 F was built from 1965 to 1972. It also served various customizers as the basis for visual and technical changes.

Those who set on the original of the little charmer, should snap at the chance.
