Genuine Corvette C3 Stingray as daily driver

The first generation Corvette, as presented in 1953, was Chevrolet’s reply to Porsche and Jaguar: A compact roadster which was lightweight – owing to its fibreglass body on a steel frame – and, with the introduction of a V8 in 1956, also sporty. In 1963, the second generation, marketed as Corvette Sting Ray, was released. It had a significantly improved chassis with independent rear wheel suspension and disc brakes. But above all, it featured a strikingly new and exciting design. Retractable headlamps were introduced – and became a Corvette hallmark until the 6th generation made its debut in 2005. With closed “eyes”, the Corvette had a sharp-edged front to contrast its elegant, flowing lines: stingray-like, indeed. In 1968, the third generation was introduced, which had a much more muscular appearance while retaining most of the engine and chassis components from the C2. This didn’t stop it from becoming the Corvette model with the longest production run, no less than 14 years!
In terms of motorisation, there were essentially two groups of engines based on either the “small block” (around 5 litres) or “big block” (up to 7.4 litres, discontinued 1975), with various transmissions and axle ratios.

For many of its followers, this is the ultimate version of the VW Bus: The Volkswagen Type 2 (T3), as it was officially referred to, the third generation of VW’s forever-popular van. It still had the engine where they thought it belonged: in the rear. In fact, early T3 models featured the identical air-cooled engines of the predecessor, even though the new van was much roomier and also a fair bit heavier. 1981 the first Diesel-powered T3 were made available, and as of 1982, a new generation of water-cooled boxer engines became standard. Regular improvements, such as the introduction of fuel injection or catalytic converters kept the T3 up to date. In 1985, the 4 wheel-drive option called Syncro was released.
Regarding body types, the T3 continued to offer a great selection, including transporter, 2-door utility, twin-cab utility, and several trim levels for the van, topped in 1985 by the popular Multivan. Camping fans’ favourite, however, remained the Westfalia variant, a well-equipped camper van with pop-top.
In 1990, the successor model, the front-engined, front-wheel-drive T4 entered the market. However, the T3 remained in production in South Africa for another 13 years, right to the end of the T4 production in Germany!

A real eye-catcher and must-have for dedicated enthusiasts of American classic cars

When Ford started with the F-Series in 1948, it was not foreseeable what a success story this would be. After 75 years and now 15 generations, it is one of the best-selling cars ever. The F-Series is the backbone of the Ford Motor Company in its home market, the USA.
The success is based on the extensive body and equipment variants as well as the affordable prices. Ford does everything exactly as the citizens from rangers to high school graduates want it. Although the product range of light commercial vehicles looked completely new at the beginning of the 5th generation, the predecessor from 1961-1966 served as the basis. The model is available with different sized cab, different wheelbases and several engine and drive combinations. From 1968, the 360 and 390 cui Big-Block V8 engine replaced the 352 cui Y-Block engine. These are FE engines (Ford-Edsel) with a better torque and the bodywork of the 5th generation became much more angular.
The Ford Ranger XLT was the first available luxury version.
Generation 5 was still produced in Brazil until 1992.

– cute little blue Fiat 500
– carries proudly its “nuova” badge from half a century ago
– registered in Italy until recently
– in 2017 imported into Germany
– 500 cc 2-cylinder engine with 13 kW (18 hp) of power
– new manifold
– front-hinged doors, not a bit suicidal
– chrome bumpers front and rear
– round-scale speedometer
– most important of all: the iconic foldable roof, an absolute must-have for this type of car
– Italian registration documents

Here it comes, the archetype of a small bubble car! A car that you simply can’t avoid falling in love with: the Fiat 500, introduced in 1957. It is both an icon of the 60s as well as a symbol of Italian compact design.
With the facelifted F-model, front-hinged doors were introduced at the 500 for the first time, replacing the so-called “suicide doors” of earlier models. Power comes from a rear-mounted 496 cc engine with a performance of 13 kW (18 hp).
People wanting more luxury, had to pick up the Fiat 500 F L: quilted side panels, map pockets in the doors, chrome bracket on the bumpers and a broadband speedometer with fuel gauge were the top features. The 500 F was built from 1965 to 1972. It also served various customizers as the basis for visual and technical changes. In 1972, the last variant, called 500 R (“Rinnovata”) was introduced, it remained in production until 1975. In total, over 3.7 million units of the Fiat 500 were built. The unbroken popularity of this model led Fiat to introduce a retro-styled new Fiat 500 in 2007.

– 1986 Porsche 944, low mileage and only one owner from new
– delivered and registered in Germany
– beautiful pinstripe velours seats in good condition
– targa roof
– power windows and electrically adjustable seats
– original Blaupunkt Koeln SQR cassette radio
– fog lights
– recently serviced with oil change
– new front brakes and wheel bearings
– German registration documents
– can be registered as historic vehicle

The Porsche 944 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981. It was based technically and optically on the 924 which had come out 5 years earlier. The Audi sourced engine of the 924, which had come under criticism by Porsche purists, was replaced by a genuinly Porsche 2.5 litre straight-4, which was effectively half of the 928’s 5.0 litre V8.
A turbo version was introduced in 1985, further power increases came with the 944 S in 1987 and the 944 S2 in 1989. The strongest engine available in a 944 was a 3.0 litre with 184 kW (250 hp) and a top speed of 260 km/h – impressive performance for a 4-cylinder car!
A convertible was only available in 1990 and 1991. Owing to its transaxle layout, handling of the 944 was superb, which is why it won the “Best Handling Production Car in America” award in 1984. In 1991, the 944 was replaced by the 968 which retained the characteristic styling cues of the 924/ 944.

Mercedes-Benz 560 SL

– stunning low-mileage Mercedes-Benz 560 SL
– US model, as these cars were not offered in Germany when new
– built in 1989, last year of the production run
– amazing colour combination with dark blue, perforated leather seats
– body-coloured hardtop and dark blue convertible top all in good shape
– anti-lock brakes, driver’s airbag
– burlwood centre console
– climate control, original radio on board, foldable centre armrest
– the top model at the peak level of R107 development

The Mercedes-Benz roadsters of the R107 series replaced the W113 “pagoda” in 1971. While the outgoing model only featured 6-cylinder engines, Mercedes had planned the new car with enough room for larger power plants under the bonnet, obviously with the North-American market as their main target – and indeed, that is where the SL proved most successful. Over a production run of a full 18 years, a total of 237,287 convertibles were built at the factory’s Sindelfingen plant, most of them equipped with V8 engines of varying capacity as 350, 380, 420, 450, 500 and 560 SL. 6-cylinder models were also offered, originally as 280 SL from 1974-1985 and later as 300 SL from 1985-1989.
The 560 SL was produced exclusively for the Japanese, American and Australian markets. Even faster, however, was the 500 SL with its European specifications, which was not sold in the US due to emission restraints.
Through continuous innovation over the many model years, the R107 set plenty of standards. When it was finally replaced by the R129 in 1989, it was already becoming one of the perennial automobile classics.

A great opportunity to own a sports coupe with mid-engine

At the Tokyo Motor Show in 1983, Toyota presented a small sports car. This was a wedge-shaped coupe with a mid-engine. Comparable to the super sports cars of the time, only a bit more compact. This prototype was then developed into the MR2. It was the first Japanese mid-engine sports car to be built in series. Certainly, the Japanese automaker was inspired by the European mid-engine cars of Lotus and especially by the Fiat X1/9.
The designation MR2 stands for “Midship Runabout Two-seater” or “Midengined Rearwheel-Drive Two-seater”. There were 3 series of the MR2, which all had the mid-engine and the rear-wheel drive in common. The first two series were available as Targa and Coupé, both had folding headlights. The coupe was delivered in Europe exclusively with the removable glass roof. The Toyota MR2 W1 has about one ton of unloaded weight and achieves with the 1.6 L double camshaft four-cylinder engine, which was also found in the Corolla of the E80 series, considerable driving performance. About 300,000 vehicles of the first two series were sold worldwide. For a mid-engine sports car, this is certainly a remarkable number. A first generation Toyota MR2 is well worth owning.

Italian super sports car of the 70s with mid-engine … hard, loud, uncomfortable!

The Italian sports car manufacturer De Tomaso was founded in 1959 by the Argentine-born Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena. After the 1963 featured and only about a year built Vallelunga followed the much more successful and in 1966 presented Mangusta.

The Pantera (“Panther”) was intended as a successor to the Mangusta and was presented in March 1970 at the New York Motor Show.

The car was designed primarily for the North American market. Its inspiring blend of Italian design (brutal wedge shape of Ghia) and American V8-mass technique (351 cui-Cleveland engine from Ford, 5.7 liter, 300 hp) lined it into the league of super sports cars of the 70s of the caliber of Lamborghini Countach, a Maserati Merak or a Iso Rivolta.

Not to mention the fact that the plugged ZF 5-speed gearbox is the same as in the BMW M1 or the Ford GT 40, thus representing absolute top technology of the time.

Even a hugely successful car series needs to be replaced eventually, so the Mercedes W123, a volume seller with over 2.7 million units, was superseded by the W124 in 1984. For the next decade and more, this Mercedes defined the standard for mid-size luxury cars. The styling came from Bruno Sacco, and engineering as well as build quality were nothing short of excellent – so much so, that its fans have taken to nicknaming the W124 “the last true Mercedes”. Despite its somewhat box-shaped lines with the prominent radiator grille, typical for Mercedes cars of its era, the W124 actually had a very low drag coefficient of 0.28 (with slim tyres).
A wide selection of engines was available: petrol engines with 4, 6 or 8 cylinders and diesel engines with 4, 5 or 6 cylinders. Apart from the sedan, which was by far the most common body style, there were also station wagons (as of 1985), coupés (1987) and convertibles (1991), as well as rare long-wheelbase variants. The W124 was facelifted in 1989 and then again in 1993, when the name “E-Class” was introduced.
Production numbers of the W124 reached almost the level of its predecessor, totalling 2,562,143 vehicles.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

– Land Cruiser FJ40, Toyota’s iconic all-terrain vehicle
– short wheelbase car

– contrasting black leatherette interior in excellent condition
– new carpet, new headliner
– 4.2 litre inline six cylinder petrol engine with 99 kW (135 hp)
– original radio on board

– eye-catching and decidedly beautiful FJ40, something of a rarity

The Americans have their Jeep, the British their Land Rover – and then there’s another rugged vehicle, from the land of the rising sun and hardly any less iconic: the Toyota Land Cruiser. Originally designed as a military vehicle based on the US Jeep, it was soon adapted to civilian use. The original “BJ” from 1951 was renamed Land Cruiser in 1954, leaving no doubt against which car it was pitted. A second generation followed in 1955, but it was the third generation, the J40, which became a world-wide success.
Especially the 4×4 variant had great off-road capabilities, they proved to be tough and reliable and helped establish Toyota’s reputation, especially in markets such as Australia, South America or Africa where these qualities in a car were vital. Land Cruiser engines were either 4 or 6 cylinder plants with a capacity between 3.0 and 4.2 litres, both Diesel and petrol engines were offered. Interestingly, Toyota used Mercedes-Benz engines for their Brazil-based production for over 25 years.
The J40 remained in production until 1984, when it was replaced by the J70. In Brazil, however, where the popular car was sold as “Toyota Bandeirante”, it continued to be built right until 2001.
