This pretty 450 SL has just returned home after 40 years in the US. It features a rare but original colour combination of sand beige exterior paint with beige leatherette trim and matching carpets.
The paintwork, largely still original, is in good shape, apart from a small dent on the right hand side and blisters on the bonnet. The body-coloured hardtop is well preserved.

This is the 2 seater variant with 4.5 litre V8 engine installed, which in combination with the popular automatic gearshift makes for a very relaxed, effortless cruising experience.

The interior is in good condition, this includes the MB tex seats and the dashboard. The convertible features air-conditioning, electric aerial and radio. A set of European bumpers has been fitted. Owner’s manual and service booklet are available.

The vehicle has valid technical approval until 05/2017.

Here’s a cult car at an affordable price, which cuts a fine figure even after 40 years.

What a dream car! From 1971-1989, the R 107 founded the unbeatable reputation of Mercedes-Benz in the open two-seater segment.

From the autumn of 1971 onwards, the 450 SL is initially built for the US market. Its M 117 engine provides 132 kW (180 hp) in the California version, 140 kW (190 hp) in the version for the other States, and as of 1973, 165 kW (225 hp) at 5000 rpm in the version for the European market. The top speed is 215 km / h and it accelerates from 0 to100 km/h in 8.8 seconds.

The production of the R 107 series ended in August 1989, more than 18 years after it had started. This makes it one of the longest-built chassis from Mercedes-Benz. A total of 237,287 open vehicles were produced at the Sindelfingen main plant.

This vehicle set plenty of standards through continuous innovation and has become one of the eternal automobile classics.

– timelessly beautiful Mercedes-Benz 560 SL from the R107 series
– built in 1986 as a 1987 model, therefore ready for registration as a historic vehicle
– signal red paintwork beautifully contrasted by date leather interior
– very appealing state of preservation outside and in
– walnut veneer centre console, original Becker Grand Prix radio with automatic antenna
– body-coloured hard top and dark brown soft top both in good condition
– bumpers converted to European version
– climate control, airbag, cruise control, power windows all came as standard in the 560 SL
– heated seats, insulating glass all around
– original 15″ Mercedes-Benz alloys
– clean Carfax report, original owner’s manual and various repair receipts available
– a very convincing specimen of this perennial Mercedes-Benz classic

The Mercedes-Benz roadsters of the R107 series replaced the W113 “pagoda” in 1971. While the outgoing model only featured 6-cylinder engines, Mercedes had planned the new car with enough room for larger power plants under the bonnet, obviously with the North-American market as their main target – and indeed, that is where the SL proved most successful. Over a production run of a full 18 years, a total of 237,287 convertibles were built at the factory’s Sindelfingen plant, most of them equipped with V8 engines of varying capacity as 350, 380, 420, 450, 500 and 560 SL. 6-cylinder models were also offered, originally as 280 SL from 1974-1985 and later as 300 SL from 1985-1989.
The 560 SL was produced exclusively for the Japanese, American and Australian markets. Even faster, however, was the 500 SL with its European specifications, which was not sold in the US due to emission restraints.
Through continuous innovation over the many model years, the R107 set plenty of standards. When it was finally replaced by the R129 in 1989, it was already becoming one of the perennial automobile classics.

Volvo 121 “Amazon”

This Volvo 121 was built in 1968, the founding year of the rockband Led Zeppelin, who incidentally performed in Sweden during their very first tour. In 1968, the successor model would already have been available, yet the first owner chose the tried and tested 121 instead. According to the consignor, this car had gone through two ownerships when he purchased it in Sweden in 2006 (the year before Led Zeppelin’s final revival concert…). He himself drove the car on its own wheels to Germany without any issues. A few years before, in 1996, the “Amazon” is said to have been treated to a partial chassis overhaul and repainting at the Volvo plant. The ice blue exterior goes very nicely with the black vinyl interior, all in good shape. Some microbubbles on the paint, as seen on the boot lid and the rear body panels, are the unfortunate result of a winter in moist conditions, but don’t tarnish the positive overall impression much.
The B18 engine, a 1.8 litre four-cylinder, produces 55 kW (75 hp) of power. As a late model 121, this example is already equipped with disc brakes and brake booster, features which were introduced for the model years 1964 and 1965 respectively. This car has German registration documents, valid technical approval until 06/2018 and historic plates.
If you’ve always been feeling a “whole lotta love” for these beautiful Swedish steel Amazons, don’t miss your chance!

As opposed to many other manufacturers, Volvo did not immediately discontinue an outgoing model as soon as the successor had been put on the market. The Volvo 121 was presented in 1956, but the PV 544 (“hunchback Volvo”) it was set to replace lived on for another couple of years. Similarly, the last 121 rolled off the assembly line in 1970, when the 140 series was in its fourth year of production. Production of the “Amazon”, as the car is known as, lasted for a full 14 years, with fairly few changes. Volvo introduced seat belts as standard on the 121 in 1959, the world’s first manufacturer to do so. Originally, the four-door sedan was the only available body type. The coupé-like two door sedan followed 1961, it eventually became the most popular model. In 1962, the P 221 station wagon with its typical two-piece tailgate was added. The very durable 1.6 and 1.8 litre four-cylinder engines were essentially carried over from the predecessor. For the last years of production, a 2.0 litre variant was made available. The 121 also provided the platform for both the P1800 sport coupé as well as the 1800 ES (“snowwhite’s coffin”). In total, 667,791 vehicles of the “Amazon” series were built, about 60 % are said to have gone to export markets.

The Mercedes-Benz R107, does anybody not know it?

This vehicle is a 450 SL with the M117 engine. It is a US import with silver body colour. The unwarranted milage is 113,300 mls.

The interior is kept in blue, as is the hardtop. The leather has aged somewhat after so many miles, but without deep cracks. A highlight at its time: the electrically retractable aerial! Power windows are installed, too. The dashboard has no apparent cracks. The door panels could deal with a bit of attention.
The analog clock in the centre looks very elegant. All chrome mounted parts are all still in a very decent shape. At the wheel arches, the tank lid and the trunk lid in particular, some very ‘American’ re-painting has been carried out. The paintwork has, generally speaking, seen better days.
Owner’s manual and several repair receipts are available.

In order to get full technical approval and historic plates, a fair bit of overhaul is required.

Sachsenring Trabant P50

Are you suffering from eastalgia? Here’s your remedy! A 1960 Trabant as a solid basis for a restoration is seeking a new owner. As documented by the east German registration papers, this car has gone through three ownerships in the GDR. After the reunification, the current owner bought the vehicle and drove it occasionally until 1994. Since it’s been decommissioned, the Trabi has been kept in a dry garage. It is now being offered because the premises are being sold, and the consignor had to admit he would not be able to carve out enough time for the restoration he once had in mind for this car.
The documentation informs us that in 1979, the original 500 cc engine was replaced with a 600 cc version. The general condition of this 56-year old car is quite good, making a full restoration appear worthwhile, though the car can of course be displayed “as is” in any collection, owing to its great number of original parts, among them the curved chrome trim lines which were characteristic for Trabants from the early period. The pastel green and alabaster colour scheme is apparently not the original paint, but it is certainly period-correct. Numerous handbooks and an assortment of spare parts is sold together with the car – but not only that: A complete 1962 Trabant 500 is included in the package, either as salvage car, or as a resto project of its own!

It has become a symbol of East Germany’s economy of scarcity: The Trabant. In fairness, the car was completely on a par with its West German counterparts at the time of its release. With its front engine and front wheel drive, it was even a rather modern vehicle. The main problem was that modifications and modernisations were scarce until 1964, and virtually non-existing after that. The original Trabant, the P50, was built from 1957 until 1962 with its 500 cc two-stroke engine producing 13 kW (18 hp) of power. As of 1963, the engine was upgraded to 600 cc and a power output of 17 kW (23 hp). 1964 brought a facelifted bodywork with straighter lines – which then remained unchanged until the end of production in 1991. For the last year, a licenced version of a 1.0 litre VW 4-stroke engine from the Polo was implanted.
Body shapes included the 2-door sedan and a 2-door station wagon, called Kombi or Universal.
Despite its nickname, “racing cardboard”, the Trabant body panels were made of Duroplast, a hard plastic made of cotton waste and phenol resins – not cardboard.
A total of 3.7 million “Trabis” were built – and many of them carelessly discarded after “the turn” of 1990. The survivors are now lovingly cared for by their old or new owners.

The “Beetle” as symbol of the German economic miracle
– An exceptionally well-kept vehicle
– Folding roof
– Fuel gauge
– Rims in light-blue with chrome covers
– Steering wheel and interior tone in tone with exterior paint
– valid technical control (TÜV or MOT) until 06/2022
– Classic Data appraisal (grade 3)
– 4 cylinder boxer engine with 1.2L and 34 HP
– Solex downdraft carburettor with automatic start
– Historic license

The VW Beetle is a legendary car model of today’s Volkswagen AG and was the best-selling automobile in the world with over 21.5 million units until June 2002, when it passed this title on to its successor from the same company, the VW Golf. For the first time, a new city was founded specifically for the construction of a vehicle type on the green field: Wolfsburg. The other successor to the Beetle is the New Beetle, it is manufactured in Mexico and has been available in the so-called retro design since 1998.
The New York Times possibly first used the name “Beetle” in an article on July 3, 1938, envisioning “thousands and thousands of shiny little beetles that will soon populate the German Autobahn”. Officially, however, the car was called “KdF-Wagen” (power through joy). According to unconfirmed information, Adolf Hitler said to have already suggested the streamlined shape with the words like a beetle to Porsche.

Chrysler New Yorker Business

A worthwhile addition to any 50s car collection

This 1951 Chrysler New Yorker Business Coupe with its classical colour combination of blue paintwork, white wall tyres anc chrome galore is a very elegant sight. It comes in what appears to be an unrestored original condition. The car was registered in California before being imported to Germany.

The coupe is, according to its previous owner, in a decent technical state. It has the 5.3 litre straight eight cylinder engine installed, which is coupled to a “Fluid Matic” semi-automatic transmission with gear selector mounted to the steering column. The New Yorker’s interior and exterior show a level of patina requisite for a car of this age and give a very harmonious overall impression,

The Chrysler is cleared through customs and is being offered with the US title.

Steadily above the mainstream

The Chrysler New Yorker nameplate dates back as far 1938, when a “New York special” version of the Imperial was released. One year later, the name was changed to “New Yorker”, and since then, the term was used for a total of 14 generations of upscale Chryler models, all the way to 1996, making it one of the longest running nameplates in American automotive history.

One generation usually lasted about four years on average, and even within a generation, modifications were manifold. In earlier generations, the New Yorker was available as 4-door sedan, 4-door station wagon (as of 3rd gen.), 2-door coupe as well as 2-door convertible. In 1965 (7th gen.), the convertible was discontinued, and as of 1979 (10th gen.), the 4-door sedan remained the only available body layout. Until the 1950s, New Yorkers usually had straight 8 engines, then the V8 became the engine of choice for many decades. Later models also offered smaller six- and four-cylinder engine options.

Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (964)

Black is beautiful? You bet! Especially when “the colour which is no colour” meets one of the most popular sports car designs of all times, and is nicely contrasted by a tan leather interior, as is the case with this Porsche 911 Carrera 2 coupé from the 964 series. The original sales bill gives evidence that this car was delivered new to Steve Taub Porsche in Santa Monica, California, in 1991. The 911 then went through three ownerships in the US, as can be seen from the comprehensive file of invoices. It was imported to Germany in 2007 by its current owner, a Porsche collector, who subjected the car to a full repainting in 2012. The carpet and headliner were also renewed in 2012, and a new suspension installed. The speedometer was converted to kilometers, with the correct mileage taken over.
Cup mirrors and 17″ cup rims enhance the sporty look of this Porsche. It also features dual airbags, power windows, air conditioning, power sunroof and a Becker Indianapolis navigation system. The 3.6 litre engine runs very smooth, it is mated with the Tiptronic gearshift.
The 911, recently valued by Classic Data at € 63,000 (condition 2) comes with German registration documents and valid technical approval until 11/2018.
To sum it up, this black beauty is a very well maintained, matching numbers vehicle with complete history, ready to take to the road.

After 16 years of production, the highly popular “G model” of the Porsche 911 was due for a thorough makeover in 1989. The successor, which bore the internal code 964, is said to have shared no more than 15 % of its parts with model it replaced. While retaining the characteristic basic design, the 964 brought a cornucopia of technical innovations. For the first time in a 911, all wheel drive, derived from the technology carrier Porsche 959, and the Tiptronic automatic gearshift became available. Power steering, airbags as well as ABS brakes likewise found their way into the 911. The suspension was revised substantially, it now featured coil springs and shock absorbers instead of torsion bars. From the outside, the most noticeable change lay in the large, integrated bumpers, as well as in the electric rear spoiler which was raised and lowered according to the travelling speed.
In the rear, there was still the air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine – now with twin-spark – which most commonly had 3.6 litres of displacement, though 3.3 and 3.75 litre variants were available, as well as turbo engines.
The 964 was the last 911 model which was offered as a traditional Targa with the removable roof.

Porsche 944

This Porsche 944 with its characteristic retractable headlights and the large curved rear hatch is over 30 years old – but in terms of body design, it still looks fresh and dynamic.
This is not an import, but a german first delivery, and a car with complete ownership history: Including the consignor, it has been through 4 ownerships, all of them in Germany.
The odometer displays a mileage of 24,000 km, according to the consignor the total mileage is 124,000 km. The paintwork in ruby red metallic (Porsche colour code LM3V) is largely in good shape with minor imperfections such as stone chip damage on the bonnet or small blemishes.
The leather interior (seats, steering wheel and gear lever) is in good condition for its age. The power window on the passenger’s side is out of order.
As a relatively early 944 model, this Porsche comes with the 2.5 litre straight-4 cylinder engine which produces 120 kW (163 hp) of power and is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. The car runs on bicolour red/silver “cleaver rims”. It was reportedly regularly serviced. Sunroof, cruise control and a contemporary radio are on the features’ list.
The 944 has german registration documents, valid technical approval until 04/2018 as well as historic plates.

The Porsche 944 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981. It was based technically and optically on the 924 which had come out 5 years earlier. The Audi sourced engine of the 924, which had come under criticism by Porsche purists, was replaced by a genuinly Porsche 2.5 litre straight-4, which was effectively half of the 928’s 5.0 litre V8.

A turbo version was introduced in 1985, further power increases came with the 944 S in 1987 and the 944 S2 in 1989. The strongest engine available in a 944 was a 3.0 litre with 184 kW (250 hp) and a top speed of 260 km/h – impressive performance for a 4-cylinder car!

A convertible was only available in 1990 and 1991 only. Owing to its transaxle layout, handling of the 944 was superb, which is why it won the “Best Handling Production Car in America” award in 1984. In 1991, the 944 was replaced by the 968 which retained the characteristic styling cues of the 924 / 944.
