Renault began the W71 project back in 1989. The aim of this project series was to return to the origins of lightweight sports cars. Like the legendary Alpine’s, a new development was not to be geared towards suitability for everyday use and comfort, but rather to impress with its driving performance. The first model names A710 or A410 were already available. The poor sales figures of the Alpine models put a stop to the continuation of the W71 project. The developers then worked on the x94 project, the Spider, which was to be marketed under the name Renault Sport. The Spider was produced between 1995 and 1999 and the engine and gearbox came from the Renault Clio Williams model. This drive unit is installed transversely in front of the rear axle. The Spider was Renault’s second mid-engined sports car after the R5 Turbo with rear-wheel drive. The engineers derived the aluminum chassis and the chassis, built over the GRP body, directly from the formula racing cars. The result was an uncompromising and purist sports car. There were only four colors to choose from: Sport Red, Sport Yellow, Sport Blue and Titanium Grey. The rear was always painted in Fjord Gray. Customers could choose between a windshield or the wind deflector. A total of 1653 Spiders were sold worldwide. The model with wind deflector accounted for 26.5% of these.

Is that the original quattro? – No, it is not, it only looks alikeā€¦
The confusion was not undesirable, after all, a lot more money changed hands for the much rarer Audi quattro!
In 1981, Audi brought a sports coupĆ© on the market, which was based on the Audi 80 B2 (type 81) and in turn became the basis for the legendary Audi quattro. The coupĆ© and the ā€œ80ā€ were identical to the a-pillar apart from the striking twin headlamps of the coupĆ©. The most noticeable features at the rear were the high, narrow taillights and the light band. 5-cylinder engines were available for the GT, as well as the tried and tested 4-cylinder motors from the Audi 80 for the GL. Coupes of the first model years with GT equipment can be recognized by the darker foiling of the body below the bumpers and side skirts.
After the facelift in the summer of 1984, the cars featured bulkier front and rear sections, bevelled headlamp lenses and the rear spoiler of the quattro – which made them look alike even more.
By the time production came to an end in 1988, just short of 175,000 coupes had been built.

The incorporation of a sporty luxury car

– 4.0L V8 petrol engine with 284 hp
– Five-speed automatic transmission
– Black leather interior
– Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, automatically dimming interior mirrors, front electric windows, air conditioning, leather steering wheel, multifunction steering wheel, power steering, central locking with remote control
– 17 ” Jaguar alloy wheels
– An English big cat for lovers

In 1996, the Jaguar XJS was finally discontinued after nearly two decades and replaced by the XK8, internally named X100, which was available in coupe and convertible shape. Design came from Geoff Lawson, who readopted some styling cues, such as the oval radiator grille, from the E-type. The interior looked classic owing to its large, flat walnut burl dashboard, compensating for the parts taken from Ford shelves. Instead of the inline-6 and V12 engines of its predecessors, the new grand tourer used a 4.0 litre V8 engine which had a power output of 216 kW (294 hp). In 1998, a supercharged variant was added, named XKR, offering 276 kW (375 hp). All cars came with 5-speed automatic transmission, as a manual gearbox was no longer on offer. A facelift in 2002 brought a power upgrade: The engine size grew to 4.2 litres of capacity and power was now rated at 219 kW (298 hp) in the XK8 and 291 kW (396 hp) in the XKR. A new 6-speed automatic transmission by ZF became standard. The X100 was a success for Jaguar, and sales figures total at 90,064 units over the course of 10 years. Interestingly, convertibles outnumber coupes two to one.

The successor to the very popular E30 was presented in 1990 as the third generation of BMW’s 3 series. Internally called E36, the new sedan was considerably larger (and pricier) than its predecessor. It introduced completely new styling cues, such as the glass covers over the traditional double headlights, the forward-slanting kidney grille or the higher rear section. There were a variety of available body styles: The 2-door sedan had become an elegant coupĆ© which shared very few parts with the 4-door variant. A shorter hatchback called Compact was added in 1994. In 1995, the Touring station wagon followed. A factory convertible as well as the (rare) Baur convertible, offered in the E36 series for the last time, and the Z3 roadster (E36/7), based on the E36 Compact platform, made the lineup complete.
The choice of engines was huge, with no petrol engine producing less than 73 kW (100 hp). Top of the range was the M3, which in 1992 offered 210 kW (286 hp) from a 3.0 litre engine, later being replaced by a 3.2 litre, 236 kW (321 hp) powerplant in 1997. 4- and 6-cylinder diesel engines were also available. The E36 was built totalling 2.5 million units at the BMW plants in Munich, Regensburg, Dingolfing as well as at the newly built Spartanburg factory in the US.

– period-correct Commodore B coupĆ© GS/E in untinkered original condition with traces of use
– only one owner from new, garage-parked car
– built in 1977, last model year for Commodore B series, German delivery
– 5-digit odometer has just rolled over: total mileage 101,000 km
– rare fuel-injected specimen, 2.8 litre inline 6-cylinder engine producing 114 kW (155 hp)
– dark blue paint and colour-keyed velour interior, in good condition with acceptable patina
– wood decor fascia and trim panels
– classical round instruments and analog clock
– power steering, Grundig cassette radio, Ronal wheels, Bosch auxiliary headlights
– German registration documents with historic plates and technical approval until 09/2017

In 1967, Opel presented its first Commodore as an up-market variant of the Rekord C on which it was based. The styling was altered slightly, the trim level upgraded a little, but it was under the bonnet where the real difference lay: The Commodore was available only with inline 6-cylinder engines, originally with 2.2 and 2.5 litres of capacity. The first generation, known as Commodore A, was replaced in 1972 by the Commodore B when Opel rolled out a new Rekord model. Likewise, in 1977 the Commodore C closely followed the Rekord E. While body styles of the first two generations comprised two- and four-door sedans as well as a coupƩ, the latter was dropped for the Commodore C, which instead received a station wagon variant in 1979.
The Commodore C was sold in the UK as Vauxhall Viceroy, it was also manufactured in South Africa as Chevrolet Commodore, and it became the basis for the Holden Commodore in Australia, where the Commodore name lives on until today.
On the German market, the Commodore never enjoyed a huge sales success, which is why it was phased out in 1982, while the Rekord E continued on until 1986.

Porsche 911 SC RS-Optik

What’s there not to like about the classic G-model Porsche 911 shape, purists may wonder. However, some folks simply prefer the appearance of the legendary Carrera RS, and various companies have long been offering suitable body kits to cater to their needs. This 1982 Porsche 911 SC was given its cosmetic treatment in 2010 as part of a thorough refurbishment, which also included a rebuild to the lightweight variant specifications, new paintjob, complete brake system overhaul, as well as a new stainless steel heat exchanger and muffler. Inside, headliner, carpet and door panels were renewed and Recaro bucket seats and a rollover bar fitted. Since then the 911 has been handled with due care, so that a recent Classic Data appraisal estimated its value at ā‚¬ 46,500 (condition 2+).
The engine bay underneath the characteristic duck tail rear spoiler looks clean, it houses the 3.0 litre 6-cylinder boxer engine which produces 150 kW (204 hp) of power and was revised in 2010 together with the five-speed manual gearbox. The two-colour (silver/black) Fuchs alloys are in fine condition, as is the car’s underbody, completing the positive overall impression of this very special sports car.
The 911 comes with German registration documents and yes, it also has historic plates: Fastening RS-style body panels is something that’s always been done to 911 models, so this does not impede their classic car status.

A legend goes into the next generation – and loses no bit of temperament and class!

The second generation of the Porsche 911 (G model) came on the market in 1973 as a successor to the Porsche 911 (original model). It was a 2+2-seater sports car and available as coupƩ, convertible (as of 1983), Targa and Speedster.

The 911 was equipped with the following engines: 2.7 to 3.0 litre petrol engine (150-188 hp) and, for the Carrera version, 2.7 to 3.2 litre petrol engine (200-231 hp). The last Porsche 911 G-model rolled off the assembly line in 1989.

For the 1981 model year, Porsche had introduced a 7-year warranty against rust, they were the first manufacturer in the world to do so. The entire chassis was made of double-sided galvanized steel. From these corrosion protection measures, the Porsche 911 benefits until today. As of 1986, the warranty was extended to 10 years.

This car is almost a must in any good garage!

– 3.2 litre six-cylinder engine with 145 kW (197 hp) and automatic transmission

– exterior paintwork in fjord metallic with blue leather interior
– power windows and period correct radio on board
– various new parts, e.g. exhaust, tyres and brakes
– valid technical approval until 06/2020 and historic plate

A high-revving straight six engine, standard drive, and all packaged in an equally expressive as well as timeless coupƩ shape: Hardly surprising the BMW 6 Series (E24) met with enthusiastic buyers for over 13 years, longer than any other BMW.
Upon its presentation, the design anticipated the styling of the future 7 Series (E23). Inside, there is the driver-related cockpit – a 70s novelty at BMW – with the center console turned slightly towards the driver. Otherwise, the upper-class coupĆ© boasts lush luxury, since the 6 Series was designed for a comfortable ride. And that is not at all contrary to a sporting performance, least of all with the more powerful engines of the 635 CSi.
The 6 Series has the reputation of easy maintenance and its engines are said to be virtually indestructible. For this reason, this BMW is well placed for a second spring as a classic that is fit for everyday use.

The Audi CoupƩ (Type 89) is a sports coupƩ based on one of the best cars the Audi brand has ever produced, the Audi 80 B3 (also Type 89), which was manufactured from fall 1988 to the end of 1996. Although the sports coupƩ was built on the same platform, it was nevertheless a completely new development. Instead of a staid notchback, it featured a large, glass tailgate. A high level of body rigidity was achieved by reinforcing the side sills. This enabled the designers to create a narrow roofline.
Initially, the Audi CouĆŸĆ© was only available with a five-cylinder engine, the now cult 2.3E with 136 hp and a 20V four-valve engine with 170 hp. Alongside the Quattro all-wheel drive, these sonorous five-cylinder engines were Audi’s image-defining statements, ā€œVorsprung durch Technikā€.

In 1974, Volkswagen had presented its first Golf – a great improvement over its predecessor, the VW beetle and its air-cooled engine in the rear. The Golf was, from the start, a front-wheel drive car, with water-cooled transverse engines – and hugely successful. After nine years, the second generation was introduced in 1983. The characteristic shape and basic concept remained unchanged, but the new series was slightly more rounded and significantly larger – 5,5 cm wider and a full 28 cm longer! The choice of available engines was large, starting with 40 kW (55 hp) in the basic model and going up all the way to 118 kW (160 hp) in the GTI G60 towards the end of the production run. A total of around 6.4 million Golf II were built, topping the registration statistics in many countries. Even today, the Golf II is still a common sight on German roads, which is due to their effective rust prevention and superior build quality.
The “Golf Country” (1990 – 1991) with four-wheel drive, higher ground clearance and bullbars anticipated the concept of modern-day SUVs, but not their success. A small series (100 copies) of the Golf II were built as electric vehicles “citySTROMer”. Interestingly, no factory convertible was offered, so the Golf I convertible (1980 – 1993) actually outlived the Golf II.

The “Backpack Golf” – that’s what the VW Jetta was nicknamed, with reference to the fact that it was effectively a VW Golf with a boot added, aimed at customers who preferred the more traditional three-box design to the default hatchback shape of the Golf. In 1979, 5 years after the debut of the Golf I, VW had presented the first generation of its Jetta, which was particularly successful in the export markets. When the second generation of the Golf was developed, VW did not wait but offered the new Jetta straight away. It again became more popular abroad than at home, outselling the Golf two to one in North America, where it was best-selling European car. The dimensions had grown, and the boot was simply enormous for a family sedan, boasting a capacity of 660 litres. The Jetta II was available with a wide selection of 4 cylinder petrol engines ranging from 1.3 to 2.0 litres of capacity, as well 1.6 litres Diesel and turbo Diesel engines. It remained in production until 1992, except for China, where it continued to be made and upgraded for many more years until 2010.
