Mercedes-Benz S 320

  • In

– 1995 Mercedes-Benz S 320 from the W 140 series
– delivered in Italy, most recently registered in Germany
– only two keepers from new
– original paintwork throughout, no re-painting of the body
– plastic bumpers professionally repainted
– no visible dents or blemishes
– beautiful burl wood interior trim in good shape
– power windows, electrically adjustable seats, sunroof, cruise control
– dual-zone climate control, car alarm
– original Mercedes-Benz alloys
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 02/2020

Automobile size, redefined

With the appearance of the new S-Class in 1991, it rained criticism: The vehicles were too heavy, not at all up to date in their megalomania – loading capacity was too low, and to top it all off, they didn’t even fit on the Sylt-shuttle trains!
Those who didn’t care about all of the above, acquired a sedan that set new standards and came with a hoist of innovations: CAN bus, voice controlled car telephony, park distance control, ESP, double glazed laminated safety glass … things that nowadays have become automotive standard were here on board for the first time. The excellent workmanship and reliability bestowed many W 140 a second career outside Germany. Models of this series were the first to be offered with V12 engines. Incidentally, the Maybachs built until 2011 were largely based on the the W 140 series.
Like all large Mercedes limousines before, the 1990s S-Class will be a sought-after classic in the foreseeable future.

Mercedes Benz SL 500

Well maintained, attractive Mercedes-Benz SL 500 (R129) from 1999
– 306hp from a 5.0 liter V8 petrol engine
– Automatic transmission
– Low read mileage of 73.700 km
– 2 owners only
– Additional heating, navigation system APS (Automotive Pilot System), folding exterior mirrors,
headlight cleaning system, xenon headlights, heated seats, hard top in body color
– Elegant appearance with darkblue paint and beige leather interior
– Very good general condition
– German registration + clean servicebook
Perfect for a relaxed summer excursion!

At the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz presented the new SL from the R129 series. Its predecessor had been on the market for no less than 18 years, so the target group was more than ready for the new car and received it enthusiastically – so much so that early customers had to put up with a delivery period of several years. The aerodynamical wedge-shape design by Bruno Sacco won the international “Car Design Award”. Technologically, the new SL was very advanced, especially with regards to its safety features. They comprised a sensor-controlled automatic roll-over bar which would be raised within 0.3 seconds if needed, as well as integral seats.

The fabric top mechanism was no longer manually operated as it had been in the R107, but electrohydraulically, it opened and closed within 30 seconds. The aluminium hardtop weighed about 10 kg less than the one of its predecessor.

The R129 was available with a variety of engines, from 2.8 litres of capacity all the way up to 7.3 litres in the rare AMG V12 variants. A total of 204,940 examples were built over the course of 12 years, with two facelifts in 1995 and 1998, most of them equipped with V8 engines.

Mercedes-Benz 190 Db Ponton

  • By:
  • With Comments Off on Mercedes-Benz 190 Db Ponton
  • In

– Mercedes-Benz 190 Db “Ponton”
– from last year of W121 production, 1961
– robust and thrifty 1.9 litre 4-cylinder Diesel engine
– 4-speed manual gearbox
– bordeaux exterior and brown leatherette interior
– beige folding roof
– with the same owner for the past 29 years
– large number of new spare parts purchased and fitted over the years
– cavity and underbody sealed (Tuff-Coty Dinol) in 1992
– engine revised in 2000, since then about 5,000 km travelled
– new set of tyres in 2017
– German registration documents, valid technical approval until 07/2020 and historic plates

While other car manufacturers had quickly followed the pioneers Citroen and Opel, who started using unitary construction designs as early as the mid-thirties, Mercedes was a late adopter: Their first unibody car, the model 180 of the W120 series, appeared in 1953. Originally available with a 1.8 litre petrol engine only, Mercedes added a Diesel powerplant to its lineup in 1954, which – while not being a true first – essentially contributed to the widespread use of this engine type in passenger cars.
In 1956 the family of the “small Ponton” grew larger again by the appearance of the 190 from the W121 series. While Mercedes-Benz only built a four-door sedan, the coachbuilder Binz offered other different versions such as station wagons, the first of their kind to be officially marketed by Mercedes. The W121 differed from the W120 by a slightly wider radiator grille, chrome trim strips, quarter-vent windows in the front doors and larger rear lights. The new four-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft and 55 kW (75 hp) made a top speed of 140 km/h possible. As of 1958, a version with a 1.9-litre diesel engine was also available, which was particularly popular with taxi companies. One year later it was decided to rework the petrol engine, resulting in the 190 b version with an increased power output of 59 kW (80 hp). In 1961 the Ponton Mercedes was replaced by the zeitgeisty “fintail” model W110.

Ferrari F550 Maranello

  • By:
  • With Comments Off on Ferrari F550 Maranello
  • In

– 1998 Ferrari F550 Maranello
– 5.5 litre V12 engine offering 357 kW (485 hp)
– 6-speed open gate manual gearbox
– top speed of 320 km/h
– 3 owners according to actual owner
– black exterior and brown leather interior
– original Ferrari radio with CD changer
– runs on 18″ Ferrari alloys
– delivered to Japan, imported into Germany in 2019
– owner’s manual, warranty booklet and tool kit are available

Aerodynamics were the main focus of this elegant yet aggressive sports car. The Ferrari 550 Maranello coupe was first presented at the Nürburgring in 1996. The two-seater was driven on the track by Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine. The Italian manufacturer proved with this model that a car with a V12 front-engine and rear-wheel drive can be at least as fast as one with a middle rear engine layout. Its body with the prominent shark face was designed by Pininfarina. The Ferrarri 550 achieved a drag coefficient of 0.33 due to its flat underbody, adapted headlights and fog lights integrated in the front bumper. The brake system was derived from Formula 1. The sports car with 5.5 litres of displacement and 357 kW (458 PS) was 3.2 s faster per lap on Ferrari’s Fiorano test track than its predecessor 512M and reached the top speed of 320 km/h. In 2001, in addition to the coupe version, 448 units of a roadster were produced, the Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina. It featured an emergency soft top only. The same year also saw the end of production of the Maranello, of which only 3,083 units were built.
