Mercedes-Benz 280 SL

– Mercedes-Benz 280 SL from the R107 series
– originally delivered to, and always registered in Germany
– reportedly only 3 owners from new
– re-painted in its original colour, sand beige metallic (MB colour code 467)
– beige velours and part-leather interior
– complete with bronze-coloured hardtop
– power windows, heated seat
– Blaupunkt Boston cassette radio
– runs on 14″ alloys with new tyres
– German registration documents

The Mercedes-Benz roadsters of the R107 series replaced the W113 “pagoda” in 1971. While the outgoing model only featured 6-cylinder engines, Mercedes had planned the new car with enough room for larger power plants under the bonnet, obviously with the North-American market as their main target – and indeed, that is where the SL proved most successful. Over a production run of a full 18 years, a total of 237,287 convertibles were built at the factory’s Sindelfingen plant, most of them equipped with V8 engines of varying capacity as 350, 380, 420, 450, 500 and 560 SL. 6-cylinder models were also offered, originally as 280 SL from 1974-1985 and later as 300 SL from 1985-1989.
The 560 SL was produced exclusively for the Japanese, American and Australian markets. Even faster, however, was the 500 SL with its European specifications, which was not sold in the US due to emission restraints.
Through continuous innovation over the many model years, the R107 set plenty of standards. When it was finally replaced by the R129 in 1989, it was already becoming one of the perennial automobile classics.

Land Rover Land-Rover 80 (Serie I)

In 1953 – the year of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II – this Land Rover 80 was built and registered to its first owner, a certain Captain Bethell in Aberlour, northern Scotland. He left the car in his will to Joanna McGregor, in whose ownership it remained until 1996. By this time, the Land Rover is said to have been in very poor condition. The third owner subjected it to a restoration in Aberlour, during which it was completely stripped and a new chassis frame fitted. All original body parts were refurbished, treated and repainted in their original colour. A new canvas hood, as well as a new set of tyres were fitted. The brake system was completely overhauled, including master cylinder, wheel cylinders, steel pipes and flexible hoses. Wheel bearings were replaced where necessary. In order to conform with current MOT regulations, front and rear indicators were fitted and a dash panel switch added.
In this condition, the car was purchased by its current owner, who imported the Land Rover into Germany and drove it sparingly but regularly. The Land Rover comes with German registration documents, valid technical approval until 02/2018 as well as historic plates. A set of old MOT certificates as well as repair receipts are also included. At 63 years of age, this Series I Landy couldn’t be further away from retirement.

After 68 years, Land Rover production finally came to a close, with the last “Defenders” rolling off the production line in Solihull, West Midlands, on 29 January 2016. By this time, just over 2 million of these trusty, iconic vehicles had been built. Their story had commenced in 1947, when Maurice Wilks, chief designer at Rover, harboured the idea of a simple, rugged vehicle that could be field-serviced, a farmer’s car, a rover for the land. The name had stuck.
In the early post-war economy, steel was in short supply, so the body was made from an aluminum alloy. The basic construction with its ladder frame chassis meant that the Land Rover was very versatile, and indeed it was adapted for countless uses, military and civilian likewise.
Even though ownership of the brand changed rather frequently – from Rover to British Leyland to BMW to Ford to Tata Motors – the shape and basic principle of the Land Rover remained pretty much unaltered, continued technical improvements notwithstanding. As much a classless as a timeless car, the “Landy” has always been popular with her Majesty, the Queen, who is said to have owned Land Rovers since 1952.

– intricately and elaborately converted to its current shape over the course of two years
– 185 kW (251 hp) engine, automatic gearbox and electronic components from BMW 745i (E23)
– full leather interior with heated Recaro sports seats
– power windows, central locking with remote control, cruise control, trip computer
– air conditioning, power steering, sound system
– electrically actuated soft top

– mileage since conversion reportedly over 300,000 km
– 2017 Classic Data appraisal states replacement value of ā‚¬ 100,000 (condition 2-)
– German registration documents and historic plates
– in the words of its creator: “one of the most beautiful convertibles BMW never built”

For some people it is one of the most desirable BMW coupĆ©s of all times: the “New Six” CS, internally called E9, which was presented in 1968. It was based on the New Class coupĆ© (2000 C / 2000 CS), but featured a longer wheelbase and longer engine bay, as well as a front resembling the then-new E3 luxury sedans. While all of this contributed to giving the coupĆ© a more elegant appearance, its choice of engines also helped to increase the appeal of the E9 as BMW’s top-of-the-range coupĆ©: The M30 straight-6 cylinder engine was offered with originally 2.8, later 3.0 litres of capacity and a power output of up to 151 kW (206 hp), just like in the E3 sedans. The elegant body was built by Karmann at OsnabrĆ¼ck.
Unforgotten are the successes of the E9 on the racing track, where the lightweight version 3.0 CSL secured many victories. The cars had as of 1973 been given a bizarre-looking aerodynamic package which earned it the nickname “Batmobile”.
The E9 was discontinued in 1975 when it was replaced by the E24 “6-series”, but went on to dominate racing until 1979. With 30,546 units built, it had outsold its predecessors by far.

Citroƫn D Super 5

– CitroĆ«n D Super 5 in rare colour brun scarabĆ©e metallic
– from penultimate year of production, 1974
– rare AEAT foldable roof for a convertible feeling of the purest kind
– equipped with 2.2 litre four-cylinder engine with 76 kW (103 hp) and 5-speed manual gearbox
– over ā‚¬ 25,000 invested in 2011, fully documented
– doors (typical DS weakness) replaced, new carpets, new tyres
– original interior with charming patina
– new battery, starter and hydraulic pump installed in 2015
– German registration documents, historic plates and valid technical approval
– complete with a suitcase full of documents including original owners manual

“La dĆ©esse” means “the goddess” in French, and the pun was not unintended. When the DS was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1955, its extravagant styling made it look like something from a different universe to most people. CitroĆ«n was owned by the tyre manufacturer Michelin at that time, who put great emphasis on technological advances. The hydropneumatic suspension, designed by Paul MagĆØs, had been used on the rear axle of the 15 CV, the DS’s predecessor, as of 1954 – but here it was employed on all four wheels, giving the car a superior ride quality and variable ground clearance. Hydraulics were also used for the brakes, power steering, and – for early models at least – also for clutch and transmission. The “snake pit”, as the mass of hydraulic pipes in the engine bay was jokingly called – overwhelmed many contemporary mechanics, but the systems proved to be very reliable. The DS (and its submodels ID, D Super and D Special) remained in production for a full two decades, with various redesigns, the most noteworthy in 1967, which put the headlights, together with a set of directional lights, under an aerodynamic glass cover. A station wagon (“Break”) and factory convertible variant was also available.
Beyond doubt, the DS is one of the greatest design icons of automotive history.

The “Beetle” as symbol of the German economic miracle
– An exceptionally well-kept vehicle
– Folding roof
– Fuel gauge
– Rims in light-blue with chrome covers
– Steering wheel and interior tone in tone with exterior paint
– valid technical control (TƜV or MOT) until 06/2022
– Classic Data appraisal (grade 3)
– 4 cylinder boxer engine with 1.2L and 34 HP
– Solex downdraft carburettor with automatic start
– Historic license

The VW Beetle is a legendary car model of today’s Volkswagen AG and was the best-selling automobile in the world with over 21.5 million units until June 2002, when it passed this title on to its successor from the same company, the VW Golf. For the first time, a new city was founded specifically for the construction of a vehicle type on the green field: Wolfsburg. The other successor to the Beetle is the New Beetle, it is manufactured in Mexico and has been available in the so-called retro design since 1998.
The New York Times possibly first used the name “Beetle” in an article on July 3, 1938, envisioning “thousands and thousands of shiny little beetles that will soon populate the German Autobahn”. Officially, however, the car was called “KdF-Wagen” (power through joy). According to unconfirmed information, Adolf Hitler said to have already suggested the streamlined shape with the words like a beetle to Porsche.

Exclusive conversion from a coupƩ to a convertible (SGS Marbella) by Styling Garage Schenefeld
SGS delivered high-quality conversions with adequate body stiffness
– Rare and very elegant variant of the Mercedes W126.
– Vehicle was part of a collection for years and regularly driven
– As good as new, perfectly functioning power soft top
– Air conditioning, cruise control, 3-spoke Nardi wooden steering wheel
– Rootwood furnishing
– Contemporary radio with electric antenna
– Power seat adjustment front
– Numerous new parts installed according to the previous owner
– New climate compressor, dryer and expansion valve
– Classic Data appraisal 2020, Grade 2
– German registration and Oldtimer admission
One of fewer than 300 copies, according to the literature of the so-called SGS Marbella

Unbeatably prestigious, horrendously expensive, and when the chips are down, also amazingly fast – that’s the coupĆ© version of Mercedes-Benz’s S-class from the W126 series. It comes as no surprise that this became the transport of choice not only for successful businesspeople, but also for characters of a more dubious reputation, temporarily tarnishing the image of what is undoubtedly one of the best-engineered cars of its era. Even by today’s standards, performance and ride quality are simply superb.
The coupƩ was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show in 1981, two years after the S class sedan had been presented. It was only available with V8 engines, initially as 380 SEC and 500 SEC. After the 1985 model improvement, the former was replaced by the 420 SEC, and the 560 SEC was added. A total 74.060 coupƩs were built, making up less than 8 % of overall W126 output. As many of them became tuning victims or suffered under a clientele of 3rd and 4th hand owners who neglected maintenance, untinkered original examples are now becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Audi A3 1.8 Automatik

– Audi A3 1.8 Automatik
– early 1st series A3 from 2nd year of production, 1997
– delivered and always registered in Germany
– low mileage of only 52,100 km and only two owners from new
– 1.8 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, 92 kW (125 hp) and automatic gearbox
– dark blue metallic paint and black leather interior
– climate control, trip computer, power windows, 4 airbags
– centre armrest, leather steering wheel, original Audi cassette radio
– German registration documents and valid technical approval until 01/2021

For nearly two decades, Audi did not offer anything smaller than a 4-door sedan, in the shape of the Audi 80, or its successor, the A4. The Audi 50 had been discontinued in 1978, and only in 1996, another small hatchback was released: The A3, internally named 8L. It was based on the new PQ34 platform also used for the 4th generation Golf as of 1997. While being visually similar, the Audi was positioned above the Golf and significantly more expensive. At first, only the 3-door version was available. The 5-door followed in 1999. Unlike later A3 generations, the 5-door was not yet a “Sportback”, it was identical to the 3-door in length. A convertible was also not yet on offer.
All 1st generation A3 came with transversely mounted 4-cylinder plants: Petrol engines had either 1.6 or 1.8 litres of displacement, starting at 74 kW (101 hp). The top end was marked by the S3 which produced 165 kW (225 hp). All-wheel drive (“quattro”) was available with the larger engines, as well as with the 1.9 litre turbo Diesel. In 2000, the A3 received a facelift, easily distinguishable by the new clear-glass double headlights. Another 3 years later, the 2nd generation (8P) was ready to replace it.

Sales on behalf of the customer

At the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz presented the new SL from the R129 series. Its predecessor had been on the market for no less than 18 years, so the target group was more than ready for the new car and received it enthusiastically – so much so that early customers had to put up with a delivery period of several years. The aerodynamical wedge-shape design by Bruno Sacco won the international “Car Design Award”. Technologically, the new SL was very advanced, especially with regards to its safety features. They comprised a sensor-controlled automatic roll-over bar which would be raised within 0.3 seconds if needed, as well as integral seats.

The fabric top mechanism was no longer manually operated as it had been in the R107, but electrohydraulically, it opened and closed within 30 seconds. The aluminium hardtop weighed about 10 kg less than the one of its predecessor.

The R129 was available with a variety of engines, from 2.8 litres of capacity all the way up to 7.3 litres in the rare AMG V12 variants. A total of 204,940 examples were built over the course of 12 years, with two facelifts in 1995 and 1998, most of them equipped with V8 engines.

Audi 80 GTE

– Audi 80 GTE (B2)
– from 1986, the last year of production
– first registered in Portugal, 2005 re-imported into Germany
– only two owners from new
– 1.8 litre petrol engine with 82 kW (112 hp) and manual transmission
– unwarranted mileage of only 89,600 km
– exterior paint in Zermatt-silver and light brown fabric interior
– front and rear spoiler, adjustable sports seats
– tinted windows, additional gauges for voltage, oil pressure and oil temperature
– original Audi Beta CC radio on board
– runs on 15″ Ronal alloy wheels
– German registration documents, valid technical approval until 10/2021 and historic plates

It may well have been the car that saved the VW group in the 1970s: The Audi 80 with its longitudinally mounted, all new water-cooled four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive was presented in 1972 as the successor to the Audi F103. The car was lightweight and economical, which made it a sales success in the aftermath of the oil crisis. The Audi 80 also served as the basis for the VW Passat B1, which was identical up to the B-pillar, but featured a fastback instead of the 80’s three-box desgin. In 1976 a facelifted version, internally named type 82, brought mild adaptations to resemble the Audi 100.
By 1978, one million Audi 80 had been built, an event marked by a “Millionaire” limited edition.
In 1978, the second generation (“B2”) followed. Building on the success of its predecessor, the 2nd generation was more of an evolution than a revolution: slightly larger, more modern styling by Giugiaro, it made the Audi 80 fit for another 8 years in production. As of 1980, the Audi 80 was also offered as a 1.6 litre diesel engine. One year later, a turbocharged version followed. The B2 also introduced the quattro 4-wheel drive and the legendary 5-cylinder engine in this segment. In the north-American market, the Audi 80 B2 was sold as Audi 4000. The B2 also formed the basis for the Coupe, Quattro as well as for the Audi 90. In 1986, it was superseded by the all-new B3.
