Volkswagen 411 E Variant

– 1971 Volkswagen 411 E Variant
– the top model of VW’s air-cooled passenger cars
– German delivery
– reportedly only one registered keeper
– unwarranted mileage of only 13,100 km
– has been part of a collection for the past 32 years
– air-cooled flat-four engine offering 59 kW (80 hp) and automatic transmission
– silver-metallic paintwork and red velours interior
– parking heater as standard, currently not working
– Becker Europa radio
– eye-catching cult car, fewer than 100 of its type registered in Germany in 2019
– very well-kept car in original condition

The Volkswagen 411, called “Nordhoff’s legacy” after VW director Heinrich Nordhoff, was the manufacturer’s first four-door model and their last passenger car with an air-cooled rear-mounted engine. This mid-range car, unveiled in 1968, was initially available as a 2-door fastback sedan. In order to be able to offer enough luggage space, a large boot had to be created in the front area. This gave the vehicle its nickname “Nose Bear”. In 1969 a station wagon version was released with the name “Variant”. The 411 had a self-supporting body, oval headlights and was the first VW model to feature MacPherson struts. Standard equipment such as reversing lights, fabric seats or, as of 1969, double headlights with H1 halogen lamps were intended to signal the higher status of the vehicle. Customers could choose from many optional extras. Engine wise, there was a carburetor version with 50 kW (68 hp) or an fuel-injected one with 59 kW (80 hp), both with 1.7 litre displacement. In 1972 the 412 was released, a facelifted model with numerous detail improvements. It was available with a 1.8 litre engine with 55 kW (75 hp) and, as of 1973, with 62 kW (85 hp). The engines of these models were completely redesigned and achieved remarkable performances for that time. Production ended in 1974 after 367,728 vehicles without a successor: The rear engine layout had by then been considered outdated.

Audi 80 GLS

– Audi 80 GLS series I
– from the last year of B1 production, 1978
– delivered and always registered in Germany
– reportedly just two long-time owners from new
– garaged for many years, unwarranted mileage of only 25,100 km
– 1.6 litre petrol engine with 63 kW (85 hp) and 4-speed manual gearbox
– low kerb weight of only 845 kg
– authentic charme of the 70s: reseda green paintwork and beige fabric interior
– a cheap everyday classic or an addition for an Audi collection

It may well have been the car that saved the VW group in the 1970s: The Audi 80 with its longitudinally mounted, all new water-cooled four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive was presented in 1972 as the successor to the Audi F103. The car was lightweight and economical, which made it a sales success in the aftermath of the oil crisis. The Audi 80 also served as the basis for the VW Passat B1, which was identical up to the B-pillar, but featured a fastback instead of the 80’s three-box desgin. In 1976 a facelifted version, internally named type 82, brought mild adaptations to resemble the Audi 100.
By 1978, one million Audi 80 had been built, an event marked by a “Millionaire” limited edition.
In 1978, the second generation (“B2”) followed. Building on the success of its predecessor, the 2nd generation was more of an evolution than a revolution: slightly larger, more modern styling by Giugiaro, it made the Audi 80 fit for another 8 years in production. As of 1980, the Audi 80 was also offered as a 1.6 litre diesel engine. One year later, a turbocharged version followed. The B2 also introduced the quattro 4-wheel drive and the legendary 5-cylinder engine in this segment. In the north-American market, the Audi 80 B2 was sold as Audi 4000. The B2 also formed the basis for the Coupe, Quattro as well as for the Audi 90. In 1986, it was superseded by the all-new B3.

Piaggio Vespa 50

This Vespa 50 scooter, model 1967, was imported from Italy 30 years ago and lovingly restored using original spare parts. It presents itself in a timeless, fresh apple green and is a real feast for the eyes!

It is fully roadworthy, was always kept dry after its restoration in the late 1990s and not driven.

The original workshop documentation is available, as well as the Italian registration documents dating 16.09.1967.

A small wasp to hold dear, here and now in search of a new master or mistress. As a collector’s item, as a memento, daily delight or for special occasions. Even on a Vespa Club meeting you will cut a good figure with this one, that much’s for sure.

As Italian as pizza and pasta

Who can imagine a piazza of any Italian city without a Vespa? Simply unthinkable! For almost 70 years, this cult motor scooter has been mobilising generations of young and young-at-heart people. And with regards to its appearance, it remained true to itself – countless modifications notwithstanding – to such an extent that is truly amazing.

Well over 16 million units of the small wasp have supposedly been built, in how far this includes the more or less similar license builds and replicas, can only be guessed. The vespa craze reached an early zenith in the 1950s, when Vespa-riding had become near-synonymous with a lifestyle, as can be seen in contemporary art, literature and film.

Isn’t it wonderful that this passion continues today and still there’s no end in sight?

In navy terms, a corvette is a small, easily maneuverable warship. GM borrowed the name in 1953 when they presented the very first concept vehicle of what was to become the best known American sports car of all times. Right until today, the “Vette”, now in its 7th generation, is in high esteem with motoring enthusiasts around the world.
The first generation Corvette was Chevrolet’s reply to Porsche and Jaguar: a compact roadster which was lightweight and sporty. The low kerb weight was achieved by using a fibreglass body on a steel frame, a revolutionary concept at its time. The sportiness of course was due to powerful engines, especially with the introduction of the “Small-block” V8 in 1956.
In the first model year, no more than 300 Corvettes were produced, mostly hand-built, and indeed it took a while until the car had reached a certain level of popularity. For the 1956 model year, the Corvette was given a new body with an improved convertible top. Glass windows were introduced and a hardtop became available. Production numbers first crossed the 10,000 mark in 1960. Over the course of one decade, a total of 69,015 first generation Corvettes were built. In 1963, the 1st generation was replaced by C2, the forever popular “Sting Ray”.

De Tomaso Pantera 874

This model is a ’72 US model (an EPL, even chrome bumpers up front and not with ugly black rubber lips) with unwarranted 23.700 mls that appear credible.

According to the previous owner, the vehicle was restored several years ago in the US and painted in a fantastic Lamborghini Green Metallic. Technically the car is in a good general condition in keeping with its age. The underbody needs repair (welding) and the windscreen wipers have been removed. Tuning was deliberately avoided, so that the whole technology is largely in its original state. Inside the seats were re-leathered, instrument panel and other trim are in good condition. Board folder, operating instructions and service manual are available.

A recent Classic Data brief appraisal over € 75.000 (condition: 2+) is present.
German registration (TÜV to 08/2016) and historic plates are available.

An absolute super sports car with appreciation potential, which collectors (with the exception of Jay Leno) have not really come to perceive.

Italian super sports car of the 70s with mid-engine … hard, loud, uncomfortable!

The Italian sports car manufacturer De Tomaso was founded in 1959 by the Argentine-born Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena. After the 1963 featured and only about a year built Vallelunga followed the much more successful and in 1966 presented Mangusta.

The Pantera (“Panther”) was intended as a successor to the Mangusta and was presented in March 1970 at the New York Motor Show.

The car was designed primarily for the North American market. Its inspiring blend of Italian design (brutal wedge shape of Ghia) and American V8-mass technique (351cui-Cleveland engine from Ford, 5.7 liter, 300 hp) lined it into the league of super sports cars of the 70s of the caliber of Lamborghini Countach, a Maserati Merak or a Iso Rivolta.

Not to mention the fact that the plugged ZF 5-speed gearbox is the same as in the BMW M1 or the Ford GT40, thus representing absolute top technology of the time.

Plymouth was a car brand that originated in the USA and was marketed by Chrysler from 1928 onwards. The Plymouth Business (in the first year of production: Plymouth Business Six) was a large passenger car that Chrysler produced under the Plymouth brand name in the model years 1935 to 1938. It was one of the most popular vehicles in the US. They were known for their durability and advanced technology. The Business Sedan or Coupé model was the most affordable entry into the popular Chrysler range at the time. Originally, this model series was only available in black as standard. Other colors could only be ordered on request. The P3 series was replaced by the Plymouth Roadking.
The brand logo, to be found on the radiator grille, hood and steering wheel, was the Mayflower, the legendary sailing ship on which English emigrants sailed from Plymouth (England) to America to start a new life there.

Rock solid elegance from Germany

The 123 models were arguably the most successful cars Mercedes ever built. In 1980, the W123 even beat rival Volkswagen, having more registrations than the all-time winner VW Golf. The long delivery time of up to three years had an interesting effect: Young used cars cost more than new ones. A total of almost 2.7 million units were built, with engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.0 litres of capacity and 55 to 185 hp. Almost 50 % of the W123 had a diesel engine fitted – which was the engine of choice for taxi companies all over the world. Cars from this series have the reputation of being extremely reliable and perfectly able to cover distances of 800.000 km and more without breaking down. The W123 series was also the first Mercedes which was available as a factory-built station wagon (the very few wagons of the W114/115 had been licence builds).

Nowadays, these elegant Mercedes have become popular classics. Even the last of their kind can now obtain the historic number plates.

Renault R3042, vintage tractor from the first series after the 2nd World War
– 2.4 L in-line four-cylinder petrol engine with 26 kW (35 hp) at 1800 rpm
– 4-speed manual gearbox
– Front track width adjustable
No registration documents available

After the war, Europe was rebuilt with all its might. There was a great demand for tractors to bring food production up to standard. The Second World War did not pass Renault by unscathed, the factory was bombed and Louis Renault died under mysterious circumstances. A few months after the liberation, the factory was transferred to state ownership. A new model was launched, based on existing technology. Now 4 digits were used as type names. Renault used power sources from its own factory and from Hispano-Hercules and Perkins.
By 1950, Renault was already by far the largest tractor manufacturer in France, accounting for 58 percent of total production.
