An attractive Porsche with traceable history and prominent previous ownership (Jacques De Groote, Diplomat)

In the late 1950s, Porsche began to develop a successor to the 356, as it had been produced virtually unchanged since 1950 and was technically no longer up-to-date. The new model should be superior to its predecessor in all areas, without sacrificing the typical Porsche design. It made its debut in 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, labelled Porsche 901. Due to naming rights claims by Peugeot, the “0” in the centre was replaced by a “1”, so that in 1964, the car entered the market as Porsche 911, with a 2-litre six-cylinder boxer engine. In 1966, Porsche expanded its model range to three models. The models T, L (later replaced by the designation E) and S differed mainly in terms of engine performance and the features’ list. The 911 T was the entry-level. the 911 S the top model. In 1969 the engine capacity was expanded from 1,991 cc to 2,195 cc. Two years later, there was a further increase in displacement to 2,341 cc. The power output of the engines went up accordingly, so that the top model, the 911 S, took to the streets with 140 kW (190 hp). It should also be mentioned that the wheelbase grew by 5.7 cm as of 1968.

The Ford Capri is a fastback coupé which was produced from 1969 to 1986 at Ford’s main German plant in Cologne-Niehl, later at the Saarlouis plant and also at the English plant in Halewood. The developers pursued the concept of a sporty car that would be solid and affordable, as an answer to the American Ford Mustang. Measured by current sports car standards, the Capri offered plenty of space for 4 people with luggage. Almost unchanged from the Ford Taunus was the chassis with the McPherson strut front axle and the rigid rear axle with leaf spring suspension. The first generation, the original Capri, was built until 1973. The Capri II left the factory until 1977, when it was replaced by the Capri III. The Capri was available in many equipment variants. The L version was the basic model, the XL version was more luxuriously equipped. The GT version appealed to the sporty buyer group. The RS version brought the manufacturer countless sporting successes with the drivers Stuck, Mass, Glemser, Ludwig, Lauda or Todt (the later Ferrari team boss in F1) in circuits, hill climbs or rallies.

A total of 1.9 million vehicles from the successful Ford Capri series were sold.

The Pagoda – a design classic par excellence!

When presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963, the W113 had the difficult task of replacing two models at a time, the 190 SL as well as the 300 SL. A task that was almost equivalent to the quadrature of the circle, but was solved brilliantly. Because of its smooth surfaces, the spacious interior and the absence of decorative elements, it came across as very “masculine” and made the predecessors with their rounded styling look outdated.
It was available as 230 SL (1963-1967), 250 SL (1967) and 280 SL (1968-1971), built with either manual or automatic transmission, to a total of 48,912 vehicles. Because of its slightly concave hardtop, available as an accessory, it was nicknamed Pagoda.
The W113 was suitable for any occasion – be it for the opera, the golf course or the small shopping – and the main thing: it looked good on you!

– German registration + admission as historic vehicle

– Original condition with some traces of use

The Volkswagen Corrado presented in 1988 was intended to be a cheaper successor to the VW Scirocco II. However, even during the development phase it was established that the “Scirocco III” could not be offered at a lower price and so the Corrado became an independent sports coupe and technology carrier. Originally the vehicle was called “Taifun”. As this carried negative connotations, the name was changed to Corrado, which was derived from the Spanish word for “to run”. The “runner” was above all robust, suitable for everyday use and had a good supply of spare parts. A special feature of the car was the rear wing, which extended automatically at speeds above 120 km/h. An increase in power output from the unchanged displacement was made possible by the G-loader in the G60. Extraordinary for that time was the equipment of the Corrado with power steering, ABS and fog lights as standard. In 1991, models with 16V and VR6 engines were offered, and one year later a facelift brought a re-designed interior. In 1995 the last VW Corrado left the production factory. The model remains in memory as a combination of sportiness and usability.

The „Baby Benz” – that‘s what the Mercedes-Benz 190 of the W 201 series has come to be called affectionately. It was the company‘s advance into a new market segment, below their established luxury and mid-range models. Design for the car, which was presented in 1982 and available only as a 4-door sedan, came from Bruno Sacco. Emphasis during development was put on passive safety, lightweight design and aerodynamics: Despite its somewhat square-shape appearance, the 190 boasted a drag coefficient of 0.33. Ride quality and directional stability were improved by the purpose-built independent multilink rear suspension. The model range comprised entry-level cars with 66 kW (90 hp) as well as motorsport homologation vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II with up to 173 kW (235 hp) of power. The W201 saw two model facelifts in 1988 and 1991, and sales had reached a total figure of nearly 1.9 million units by the time production was halted in 1993 after the introduction of the first C-Class (W202). Unforgotten are the 190’s successes in motorsport, most notably Klaus Ludwig‘s victory of the German Touring Car Championship in 1992 with his Evo II.

Production of the first Audi 200 generation was discontinued in August 1982.
Then, in June 1983, the next generation Audi 200 (C3, Type 44) debuted as the brand’s flagship in the automotive luxury class. The Audi 200 was celebrated as the fastest four-door car. The 134 kW (182 hp) from the turbocharged 2.1-liter five-cylinder gasoline engine was all the sedan needed to reach speeds of almost 230 km/h. The turbocharged 2.1-liter five-cylinder gasoline engine was also used as a power source. Added to this was the streamlined body with a cW value of 0.32 and the extremely low kerb weight of 1,290 kg. Like its predecessor, it was actually just an Audi 100 in a tuxedo. The Audi 200 Turbo was not yet able to gain a place in the vehicle fleet of the Chancellery. But the sedan made the transition from civil servant status to business image in the years that followed. It also made various appearances as a movie star. For example, as the official car of the chief physician Professor Brinkmann in the TV series “Die Schwarzwaldklinik”.
The Audi V8 with eight-cylinder engine then replaced the Audi 200 as the top model in 1988.

A timeless classic car with normal traces of use

Who has not heard of the Beetle that runs and runs and runs?

As early as 1945, mass production of the VW Beetle was commenced – the last one rolled off the line in 2003. The VW Beetle was produced over 20,000,000 times and had become a classic during its production period, enjoying a wide fan base right until today. In early 2014, more than 10 percent of all registered classic cars in Germany were “creepy crawlies”, making it beyond any doubt the most popular classic car of all times.
Over the decades, the beetle has undergone numerous changes, the most obvious concerned the shape of the rear window. The two-piece oval rear window (“split”) was replaced in 1953 by a larger one-piece oval window. In 1957 and then again in 1963, the rear window was enlarged again. The 1302 was presented in 1970, it marked the zenith of beetle development in Germany. Production at the Wolfsburg plant came to an end in 1974, but up until 1985, Mexico-built beetles were officially marketed by VW in Germany.

Untampered classic car in mostly well-maintained condition

By creating the Mini, Alec Issigonis, who had also designed the successful Morris Minor, delivered not only his personal masterpiece, but gave the world one ot the most iconic vehicles of all times. In 1959 when the “Austin Seven” was first presented, it was nothing short of revolutionary: A four-seater car measuring scarcely over 3 meters in length, with a transversely mounted, water-cooled four-cylinder engine and independent wheel suspension was unheard of. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the car was an instant success, and was sold – with confusingly numerous brand and model designations – around the world, with assembly plants in various European countries as well as in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. What is more surprising is the fact that the little car remained in production with fairly limited visual changes all the way to the year 2000, outliving the models which were supposed to be its successor. It needs to be mentioned that the Mini also had a hugely successful racing career, winning the Monte Carlo Rally three times. Unforgotten are the countless appearances of the cult car on TV, most notably by Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean.
By the end of the 41-year long production run, a total of nearly 5.4 million cars had been built.

In the summer of 1984, the public was able to admire the new Kadett GSI at the Paris Motor Show. Based on the technical design of its predecessor, the Kadett D with front-wheel drive but with a new hatchback body, it was voted “Car of the Year 1984”. Two years later, the Kadett GSi could also be ordered as a five-door model. After only a short time, customers accepted the new shape and the Kadett E began to soar, achieving 625,000 new registrations throughout Europe in 1987. The Caravan had long since become the load master of all classes. In the fall of 1985, for the first time since the Kadett C, there was also a variant with a notchback. The GSi finally became an icon when, starting in 1988, it left the competition behind with its pioneering 150-hp 16-valve engine, the first Opel large-series engine with four valves per cylinder. The Kadett D was already the best compact with a drag coefficient of 0.39. The body of the E model was optimized in the wind tunnel and achieved a sensational 0.32. The sporty GSI with a coefficient of 0.30 became the most streamlined sedan in the world. This sixth generation Opel Kadett was the last generation before the introduction of the Astra models. The GSI (Grand Sport Injection) designation was very popular and continues to be used by Opel today.

Ford Thunderbird “Glamour Bird”

Ford’s Thunderbird: A muscle car with glamour
– Svelte Sixties aero-style allied to the impressive V8 rumble of a 7.0 litre engine with 260 hp
– Automatic transmission
– Number of previous owners unknown
– With the current owner since 2014
– Speedometer reading
– The turquoise paint and tone-in-tone interior reflects the “Zeitgeist” of the Sixties
– Landau vinyl hard top in black
– Interior with brushed aluminium applications
– Electrically adjustable single seats, power windows
– Renewed cables for engine control and 2021 new shock absorbers
– Front seats with signs of wear: Seat covers should be renewed
– German registration + admission as historic vehicle
– Valid technical control (MOT) until June 2024

Starting out as a sports car in direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette or European rivals such as Jaguar and Porsche, later becoming a “Personal Luxury Car” for classy cruising – the Ford Thunderbird was always a product of the Zeitgeist of his era. The company’s market strategists were really focused on the market and for decades their strategy proved to be highly successful.

Connoisseurs distinguish a total of 11 generations, from the “Classic Bird” and “Square Bird” of the 50s, via “Bullet Bird”, “Flair Bird” and “Glamour Bird” of the 1960s, “Big Bird” and “Torino Bird” of the 1970s, and “Box Bird”, “Aero Bird”, “Super Bird” of the 80s / 90s all the way to the “Retro Bird”, which from 2002 to 2005 attempted a not-so successful revival.

In the models before 1980, you’d find the enormous, thirsty V8 engines with capacities up to 7.5 litres – typically American. After years of “longer, wider, heavier” the trend was reversed, with later model Thunderbirds being lighter and sportier again.
