Pilgrim has been building cars since the 1960s and became a registered company in 1985, jointly owned by its founders Den Tanner and Bill Harling. The company was bought by Tony Holmes in 2002 and reclaimed by Den in 2009. In 2014 Den sold Pilgrim to Trade Direct Sussex, owned by Paul Bennett and Adrian Hewetson. The company was renamed Pilgrim Motorsports.
From humble beginnings building individual cars to a fully operational large factory in the mid-1980s, Pilgrim’s great success was largely due to the replica of the famous AC Cobra. A few years later the Pilgrim Speedster was introduced. Both replicas were and still are very popular, both in factory-built and home-built form. Pilgrim Motorsports has built over 14,000 customized cars.
