Noble Jaguar sedan with minor traces of use

The XJ can be considered Sir William Lyon’s masterpiece. It was the last car that the Jaguar co-founder drew; and what he had created in 1968 proved to be consistent: the luxury sedan was built for 24 years with only minor modifications to the body shape. The XJ not only replaced the S models, but also the 420 and Mk II; it became the only Jaguar sedan and one of the most famous British cars ever. Initially only available as XJ6, the 12-cylinder version XJ12 followed in 1972, at that time the only four-door series sedan with 12 cylinders.
The first major facelift for 1974 brought raised bumpers, resulting in a flatter grille, making the XJ even slimmer and more elegant.
In 1979 there was another facelift, which included a careful redesign of Pininfarina, but largely retained Sir Lyon’s original shape. Approximately 318,000 XJ6 and XJ12 were built over the entire production range.
