The BK 350 (“boxer cardan” and 350 cm³ displacement) was a motorcycle model of VEB Motorradwerke Zschopau (MZ) and was produced from 1952 to 1959. The motorcycle was the first new development of the old DKW factory in Zschopau after the end of the war and initially came off the production line under the name of the state GDR vehicle construction association “IFA”.
The BK 350 had an unusual engine design. It was powered by a two-stroke boxer engine. This design has not been used in any other vehicle to date. The engine performed max. 15, later 17 hp. The power transmission to the rear wheel took place (and thus in contrast to all later MZ models) via the cardan shaft.
