Vehicle Description

This beautiful Mercedes is one of the popular convertibles of the R107 series. The 560 SL was built in 1986 and delivered to the US, from where it was re-imported to Germany in 2014. It is a 2+2 seater with “jump seats” in the rear. The odometer displays an unwarranted 146,165 mls.

The exterior colour is blue, the interior kept in grey. The leather seats, particularly on the driver’s side, show some obvious traces of use. In contrast, the mechanical hood is in a visually good condition. Unfortunately, exposure to the intense Californian sunshine has left its mark in the interior, while not preventing the appearnace of small rust spots.
The car also has a few dents in the driver’s door and the left wing.

All in all, a nice Mercedes-Benz 560 SL, which wants to be lovingly restored so it may shine once more like on its delivery day.

A pearl for the overseas market – now she’s coming home!

The Mercedes Benz R 107 roadster series, unveiled in 1971, became the convertible with the highest production numbers of any SL, with over 237,000 units built over 18 years, which also means the longest production-run of any Mercedes-Benz passenger car series ever.

The 560 SL (1985 to 1989) was conceived as an export model for the American, Australian and Japanese market and never officially offered in Europe. The 5.6-litre eight-cylinder engine (M 117) was created by lengthening the stroke of the 5.0-litre V8, it produces 167 kW (229 PS).

Only the Best “Made in Germany” for the States – the SL 560 US versions were shipped from the factory “fully loaded”. The only additional equipment on the options list was a seat heating.
