Vehicle Description

This car was originally delivered to the USA and is equipped with the 4.5 liter V8 engine (M117) which performs 132 kW (180 hp), especially reduced for the American market.

The power is transmitted via a three-speed converter automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The vehicle was built in 1979 and unwarranted mileage is approx. 115,000 mls (equivalent to approx. 185,500 kilometers).

The appeal of the car lies in its color combination of the ivory-coloured exterior paint with beige MB-Tex interior and beige carpets. The interior is in good condition. The SL has cruise control, power windows and radio.

The aluminium rims are not original and the centre arm rest is damaged. Paint and chrome are good, gap widths properly, hardtop in body color, soft top in brown, good condition.

The SL-107 series, which came as a successor to the so-called “Pagoda” (W113 series) on the market in 1971, established a new design line of Mercedes-Benz with the wideband H4 headlamps and the large chequered tail lights. That these lines are still well received today, shows the fact that the R107 series SLs are in terms of popularity of the Germans in third place, only excelled by the Beetle and the Mercedes W123 series (produced in much higher quantities!).

As the previous model the US was the largest market. The majority of the vehicles was equipped with the large volume V8 engines.
