This Mercedes 230 SL Pagoda dates back to 1966 and was imported from the USA to England in 2013. More recently this classic car found its way to Germany. It is apparently a European first delivery. Therefore, it is equipped with a km / h speedometer.

The unwarranted mileage is 71,508 km. The 2.3-liter straight six engine produces 110 kW (150 hp) and passes its power on to the proven 4-speed manual transmission.

The white-gray paint blends beautifully with the red MB-Tex interior and the medium gray painted hubcaps and the hardtop.

Of course, time has not been gone past without leaving traces on this vehicle. The marks of a minor accident are still to be seen, as well as a visible general patina. A closer check by an expert could be of value.

Among other parts, it is the interior, exterior and chassis that require some attention.
There is still some work to do, but a decent substance is present.

When presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963, the W 113 had the difficult task of replacing two models at a time, the 190 SL as well as the 300 SL. A task that was almost equivalent to the quadrature of the circle, but was solved brilliantly. Because of its smooth surfaces, the spacious interior and the absence of decorative elements, it came across as very “masculine” and made the predecessors with their rounded styling look outdated.

It was available as 230 SL (1963-1967), 250 SL (1967) and 280 SL (1968-1971), built with either manual or automatic transmission, to a total of 48,912 vehicles. Because of its slightly concave hardtop, available as an accessory, it was nicknamed Pagoda.

The W 113 was suitable for any occasion – be it for the opera, the golf course or the small shopping – and the main thing: it looked good on you!
