Vehicle Description

Allora – a snazzy Italian convertible for the summer?

This powder-blue Fiat 124 Spider was imported from the US in 2015. Its paintwork is by and large still in decent shape, with slight traces of rust beginning to show, but altogether still rather presentable. The interior benefits from a careful refurbishment which was undertaken some time ago, the black leatherette seats are in good condition with a suitable degree of patina. Carpets are well-kept, chrome parts nice and shiny. A very fine wooden steering wheel matches the wooden dashboard, which is slightly cracked. The convertible top is mechanically sound and also still looks ok for its age.

Tipping the scales at just 965 kg, the Fiat is appropriately motorised with its 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 68 kW (92 hp) of power. It is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.
A sports exhaust has been fitted. The original owner’s manual is present.

This car will make you crave for warm, sunshiny days!

At a time when Fiat and Alfa Romeo were competitors, two distinctive convertibles made their debut almost simultaneously: Both were called Spider, both designed by Pininfarina, both with an above-average construction period, both nowadays popular classics. We’re talking about the Fiat 124 Sport Spider and the Alfa Romeo Spider.

The Fiat model was DM 2,000 – that is to say, significantly – cheaper to acquire than the Alfa. It didn’t need to hide, being technically up-to-date, lightweight and agile, with precise handling, a sports car not just by name … in a nutshell, a car one could have a lot of fun with.

The 124 Sport Spider was popular in Europe, but even more so in the US, where it was continuously available until 1983, with engine capacity rising from an original 1400 cc to 2000 cc later.on. Pininfarina continued production in their own right after Fiat had withdrawn the Spider from their portfolio, until 1985 – by which time it had become a rather exotic sight. The eternal competitor lasted almost another 10 years. Alfa Romeo had long become part of the Fiat group by then.
