Vehicle Description

This 1968 Chevrolet Impala Coupe is a true “garage find”. The overall impression makes the original mileage of an unwarranted 26,500 mls, as stated by the previous American owner, seem very credible.

The complete and original interior is in very good condition, only one door panel has minimal damage. With regards to the colour scheme, the blue leatherette-fabric combination suits the Chevrolet’s appearance perfectly.

From the outside, too, the Impala presents itself in an original and un-tinkered state. The vehicle still bears the original blue paint. One fender has a dent. Only wear and tear parts have been replaced over the years. A new paint job? For this vehicle, that’d be a downright sin.

The 5.4-liter eight-cylinder engine with 300 hp and automatic transmission complements the impressive performance of this coupé.
Terms such as “time capsule” or “drives like day one” are not exaggerated here. This is a hard-to-find rarity with genuine appreciation potential.

A South African antelope gave it the name: In 1958, in time for the 50-year anniversary of its parent company General Motors, Chevrolet presented the Impala as a prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen. A rugged rear with oversized tail fins and three tail lights on either side became its hallmark for many years. The Impala was powered preferably by high-capacity V8 engines.

Until 1985, a total of six generations of the Impala were built, with constant, sometimes annual changes to the bodywork. Overall, the Impala was extremely popular and quickly became the most famous model of the Chevrolet brand. What with the wide range of 2- and 4-door convertibles, coupes, sedans and station wagons and the great diversity regarding the engines, it requires a rather extensive study of the subject matter for somebody aspiring to become an Impala expert…

As opposed to the United States, Impalas remained forever exotic in Germany.
