Vehicle Description

The French revolution among compact cars

Just think of what the “duck” needed to be: Farmer’s car, family car, student car … today it is a cult car par excellence. Simple, almost primitive and yet full of innovation, the unusual vehicle made friends right from the start. Designed before world war II, mass production began only in 1949 and then continued with relatively minor modifications for over 4 decades.

The proverbial reliability of the small Citroen based on the principle that what’s not there can’t break: Tiny air-cooled two-cylinder engines with just 0.4 to 0.6 l of displacement needed to suffice, and with less than 600 kg, the duck was a lightweight. Minimalism and nonconformity as a principle of life? This went down well with the students of the 1970s!

However, the vast majority of the 2CV was driven into the ground, so that well-maintained vehicles have today become rare, sought-after classics.
